Young girl sees road-crossing figure during car repair stop
(Show Printer-friendly Version)
YEAR: 1990
SEASON: Spring STATE: Washington COUNTY: Klickitat County LOCATION DETAILS: It was in Washington State, in the forest on a back road, there were patches of snow everywhere, either late morning or early afternoon. It couldn't have been more than 2 1/2 hours away from Vancouver, WA. [On a backroad in the vicinity of Trout Lake] NEAREST TOWN: White Salmon NEAREST ROAD: Trout Lake Creek Road OBSERVED: I was in elementary school and I am 24 now, so I can't remember exactly where we were except that it was in Washington, in the forest, and it had to be at a fairly high elevation because I remember there were patches of snow on the ground in some spots. I was with my parents and their friends and we were on this back road somewhere and something was wrong with the friends' truck so I remember that we stopped and they were looking at the truck and something caught my eye. It was a very tall person with thicker and longer than usual arms and legs; I could only see the silhouette of him and he seemed to be in a hurry and he was crossing the road in front of where we had stopped. I didn't say anything at the time, I wasn't frightned, just totally amazed by what I just saw. And still to this day I know what I saw and wasn't just seeing things as a child. So I KNOW this was either a bigfoot or someone dressed up like one. And it wasn't anyone in my party because I remember looking at them all to see if they had just seen what I had, but they were all occupied with something else. ALSO NOTICED: I can't remember that I heard or smelled anything. OTHER WITNESSES: Only me; there was the rest of my family but none was paying attention. OTHER STORIES: I remember there was a store with bigfoot stuff in it, so I'm sure we were around an area where there had been other sightings. TIME AND CONDITIONS: Either late morning or early afternoon. ENVIRONMENT: It was thick forest, the "thing" crossed a small bridge in front of where we had stopped. Patches of snow on the ground.
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Dr. Wolf H. Fahrenbach:
The observed creature had a fast gait, different from that of a man (even as perceived by a young girl), with a slightly hunched posture and conspicuously larger height as well as thicker appendages. The forest light reduced the sighting to that of a silhouette, allowing no further detail to be observed beyond a dark overall coloring.
