YESTERDAY (!!!): Bigfoot knocks (from multiple creatures) near Port Townsend
(Show Printer-friendly Version)
YEAR: 2025
SEASON: Summer MONTH: July DATE: 21 STATE: Washington COUNTY: Jefferson County LOCATION DETAILS: [GPS provided by witness: ]
48.0722946462925, -122.79634604923405 NEAREST TOWN: Port Townsend NEAREST ROAD: Kala Point Drive OBSERVED: It was Monday, July 21, around 3:45pm. I was walking in Fort Townsend State Park in Washington State. I had a stick with me that I was using for walking and occasionally it would knock a root or the ground and make a woody knock sound.
As I turned onto a new path, I briefly noticed a skunky smell, but it quickly dissipated.
As I walked, I started to hear an intermittent knocking sound, which I realized wasn’t coming from my stick. I stopped and launched my Merlin bird app to see if it was some sort of bird making the knocking noise. Merlin didn’t identify any birds in the area at all, so I listened carefully and looked to see if maybe the wind was blowing the trees to cause a knocking sound. It didn’t appear to be the wind, so I took my stick and tapped it against the tree next to me three times.
Immediately, from the same direction as the intermittent, repetitive knocking, came three sharp knocks. To rule out coincidence, I tapped twice. The knocks were returned in the same tempo. I figured someone was messing with me, and I continued walking.
I had seen a cyclist before I turned on this path, but I hadn’t seen anyone else in the park that day. Still, I figured someone was playing a game with me. I heard the knocking continue and it almost seemed to be moving along with me. I stopped and hit another tree three times. This time, I heard the knock returned from two different locations, at my 10:00 o’clock (more distant) and at my 8:00 o’clock (the original source). I was a little weirded out that there were suddenly two people messing with me and moving along with me through the woods.
I went back to my wind theory (in spite of the fact that I walk there regularly, and have never noticed a wind-knocking phenomenon). However, the noise was clearly coming from multiple directions now. But when I would tap a tree a certain number of times, I would get a clear response in the same number. They weren’t getting any closer, so I was feeling a little playful about it, when from 2:00 (and slightly closer) I heard violent rhythmic smashing. It sounded like wood on wood, but not a stick, it was much louder—scary loud. I tried to tell myself it was maybe construction noise, but I could swear it seemed like I could hear bark coming off a log. The other playful noises at 8:00 and 10:00 went quiet.
The game was no longer fun for me and I exited the forest as quickly as I could and refrained from engaging in any more noise play.
OTHER WITNESSES: no OTHER STORIES: I moved to Kala Point in June and walk in these woods frequently. Never had an experience like the knocking, although I've smelled a skunky smell from time to time, which could be anything.
I know Washington is a hotspot for bigfoot encounters, but I would NOT expect to find any on this particular location, when there are vast stretches of wild woods in Washington and this is a relatively small patch. TIME AND CONDITIONS: 3:45. Partly sunny. Wind 7 MPH ENE ENVIRONMENT: Small Forest just south of Port Townsend Washington with - Douglas fir, Cedar & Hemlock. Deer are plentiful and the occasional cougar is spotted from time to time.
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Matthew Moneymaker:
Sounds like at least three bigfoots in there right now. This happened in daylight, so if you live nearby you should take a walk in there, but do not bring a dog or you will get the silent treatment.
