Possible Vocalizations Near Silver Lake
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2021

SEASON: Spring

MONTH: May

DATE: 4

STATE: Washington

COUNTY: Pierce County

LOCATION DETAILS: Camped at Silver Lake. Vocalizations were heard off and on for about an hour during the early am hours of 1:30 am to about 2:00am. The vocalizations started and woke my dog. He was scared. I heard them as I walked out of the Rv going night fishing. I heard 7 or 8 whoops and about 20 minutes later 5 whoops....then about another 20 minutes later 3 whoops, followed by another slightly higher pitched 3 whoops. All vocalizations stopped and they happened South of Silver Lake approximately Elbe area....west of Elbe in the hills.

NEAREST TOWN: Elbe WA

NEAREST ROAD: SR 7

ALSO NOTICED: Some time this winter on a clear night I heard knocks late at night. I sleep with my window open so I hear a lot of things. This was also South of Silver Lake in Pierce County.

OTHER WITNESSES: We were sleeping and my dachshund woke up sniffing the air and nervous.

OTHER STORIES: Just knocking some time during the winter night one time and I didn't report. Last night was significant to me.

The vocalizations sounded a bit like a primate and a bit human combined. Very consistent like it was communication with another Sasquatch.

I found this experience very exciting and confirmed we don't know everything about the natural world.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: 1:30 am to approximately 2:30am
Weather was cool, overcast a bit but clear air. Sounds traveled far.

ENVIRONMENT: Vocalizations only

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Jeff Sidebottom:

I spoke to witness by phone. They own 20 acres near Silver Lake in Pierce County Washington. The vocalizations were in the early spring. First heard around 11pm then again around 1am. The vocalizations scared their dog. They were coming from the south east side of the lake near a mountain with a deep crevasse. I sent her a map and requested she mark the approximate location for me. She returned it with the approximate locations marked. She advised the black dots are the male sounding vocalizations and the red dot a female vocalization. She heard them between 11pm to about 1:30am. This was during the Spring of 2021. She heard other male sounding vocalizations during other nights during the Spring. Then she told her husband. He didn't believe her until he heard it for himself early in the morning. This area is west of hwy 7 in Pierce county, WA. and is very close to Nisqually State Park. Topo and satellite maps of the area provided.
