Report # 72142  (Class A)
Submitted by witness on Monday, January 24, 2022.
Afternoon sighting of a sasquatch by motorist 5 miles southeast of Elma on Hwy 12

YEAR: 2020

SEASON: Fall

MONTH: November

STATE: Washington

COUNTY: Grays Harbor County

LOCATION DETAILS: IT WAS IN BETWEEN THE TOWN OF MALONE, WA AND PORTER, WA ON HWY 12. THE FIGURE WAS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE HWY IF YOU ARE HEADED SOUTH/EAST BOUND.

[Investigator (MM) Note:
Rough GPS coordinates:
46.9436479, -123.3172772
The photo below shows the exact spot.]

NEAREST TOWN: PORTER, WA

NEAREST ROAD: HWY 12

OBSERVED: I GOT OFF WORK AROUND 3:30PM AND WAS DRIVING HOME. I WAS HEADED EAST [South] BOUND ON HWY 12 IN BETWEEN MALONE, WA AND PORTER, WA. I WAS ABOUT 50-100 YARDS WEST [North] OF THE FIGURE AND SAW SOMETHING LARGE AND DARK IN COLOR STANDING NEXT TO A TREE, UP ON A 15 FOOT HILL. THE EDGE OF THE HILL WAS TREE LINED WITH DENSE PINE FORREST. IT FELT LIKE SLOW MOTION AS I WAS APPROACHING THE FIGURE. I WATCHED IT MAKE A 180 TURN AND WALK BACK INTO THE FOREST.

THE SIGHTING ONLY LASTED ABOUT 3 SECONDS AS I WAS TRAVELING AT 55MPH BUT FELT LIKE IT LASTED LONGER. THE FIGURE WAS VERY DARK IN COLOR BUT ALMOST LOOKED BALDING IN SOME PLACES ON THE BODY. THE FACE LOOKED CLOSE TO A HUMAN AND WAS LIGHTER IN SKIN COLOR.

I WOULD SAY IT WAS PROBALY 6 FEET TALL WITH A SLIM BUT A MUSCULAR BUILD. IT WASNT VERY BROAD IN THE SHOULDERS LIKE WE SEE IN OTHER PHOTOS. I COULD NOT SEE FACIAL FEATURES VERY WELL OTHER THAN LIGHTER COLORS IN THE FACE, NECK AND CHEST AREA. I KNOW FOR CERTAIN THIS COULDNT HAVE BEEN A HUMAN.

ALSO NOTICED: N/A

OTHER WITNESSES: JUST MYSELF

OTHER STORIES: I HAVE FAMILY WHO LIVE NEARBY THE TOWN OF PORTER AND THEY HAVE A LOT OF OPEN PROPERTY BEHIND THEIR HOME THAT IS LINED WITH DENSE WOODED FORREST AND THEY HAVE ALWAYS TOLD ME THEY OCCASIONALLY HEAR STRANGE HOWLING AT NIGHT BUT THAT IS NOT MY STORY. THAT IS ONLY WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: IT WAS ABOUT 3:45PM I SUNNY, THE AREA WAS SHADED WITH SOME SUNLIGHT PEAKING THROUGH.

ENVIRONMENT: PINE FOREST, CLOSE TO CAPITAL STATE FOREST.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Matthew Moneymaker:

This is one of the best sasquatch sighting reports ever from Grays Harbor County (which has many reports). The only downside to this report is that the incident is not fresh. It happened in November 2020. The witness was hesitant about reporting it, as is common. However, the location is important. It is a likely repeat crossing point along Highway 12 (crossing point for deer as well).

The witness, Dannyka B., is a 27 year old woman who works as a 911 dispatcher for a nearby county. She is very credible and very certain about what she saw. She will make herself available for questions or contact via Facebook. Find her in the comments below the corresponding post in the Facebook Group for "BFRO 1995".

When I asked her if she is sure about what she saw, it became clear that her career involves asking people if they are sure about what they saw. Her affirmative response was pretty moving -- the tone of a very reliable 911 dispatcher conveying a high degree of certainty about something.

She was driving along in a quiet Subaru Crosstrek compact SUV but the sasquatch was able to see down the road a ways from where it was looking. After she passed it she continued on but she called her husband (hands free) and told him what she saw. She was tearing up and her voice was trembling as she described it to him.

There were no other vehicles on the road visible in either direction when she saw it.

When she first spotted the sasquatch it was facing north toward her. As she turned her head to look as she passed it, she thought it saw her looking toward it, which she thinks prompted it to turn and walk back into the woods. Very possible. At that distance you would see if a driver is looking up as you while passing by.

The overall shape was like a strongly built man (not a hulking broad figure) but it had black or dark brown fur all over its body with some uneven balding patches on its torso. When it turned to walk away she saw the back side clearly and says it had no balding patches on the back side.

The skin color underneath the fur was not black but rather a grayish-tan. She also saw hints of pink in the balding patches as if the animal had some raw irritated skin in those areas.

The bottom photo below is a Google Street View image. It shows a green circle where the sasquatch was standing. The image was sent by Dannyka. She drew the circle. That is exactly where she saw it. She has passed the spot many times since this incident. She has no doubt that was the spot.

By viewing the spot on Google Street View from closer points and other angles, it does look like a place where deer can and have scampered up and down the slope, unlike the more sheer walls on either side. It looks like a game trail coming out right at that spot.

If a sasquatch or a herd of deer was generally following that unnamed deep gorge toward the Chehalis River, the pathway may emerge right at the spot she circled. But that's just a guess until you hike it.
