Researchers have early morning road crossing near Medford

YEAR: 2010

SEASON: Winter

MONTH: March

DATE: 18

STATE: New Jersey

COUNTY: Burlington County

LOCATION DETAILS: This road leads home from the Pine Barrens. The location was near high tension pole lines, and nearby developments. Keep exact location details private.

NEAREST TOWN: Medford

NEAREST ROAD: Rt206

OBSERVED: I was returning from one of my research areas in the Pine Barrens with a friend of mine. We had spent a few hours out in the forest on this cold and damp night trying to illicit a response from a Sasquatch. We had zero activity, and due to the declining weather conditions, I decided to wrap it up for the night around 12:35am. We packed up our gear, and began the drive homeward.

We had just crossed a main road entering back into civilization, and were discussing music - when something came charging out from the front right side of the road. I was traveling at around 50mph, and got on my brakes hard. Luckily I had anti-lock brakes and avoided skidding, and I barely missed hitting the creature.

My friend was holding a bottle of water between her legs, and when I braked - she slid forward and the water sprayed all over her. She said "What was that?!" And I replied "Deer", and she said "No it wasn't!"

I then realized that what I had just seen was not a deer, or a dog, bear, or human dressed in a costume. It had no muzzle, tail, or pointy ears, and the legs were thicker than mine. It ran hunched over, and appeared to propel itself faster by pumping its arms. Just as it looked like it was about to be hit, it turned its upper body, and looked at us with an expression of shock as if it knew it had messed up. It never broke stride, and continued running across the road and into the woods across the street.

I slowed my vehicle and made a U-turn returning to the spot. I got out of my car and tried to listen to hear anything moving through the brush. I didn't hear anything, and I couldn't smell anything either. I checked for tracks alongside of the road, but did not see any.

OTHER WITNESSES: 2 including myself.

OTHER STORIES: Yes. A woman had a similar experience as mine the following night. A year later, another woman had a road crossing there as well.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: Early morning at 1:10am. Dark, cold, and damp out. Low lighting conditions.

ENVIRONMENT: Near high tension pole lines, and nearby developments. Surrounded by woods, lakes, and streams.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Caroline Curtis:

Eric has already shared his sighting for TV on the "South Jersey Sasquatch" episode of Finding Bigfoot. Unfortunately, the producers edited out his interview and recreation from the final show. BFRO Director Matt Moneymaker tweeted him that night saying "That sucks - there's only 44 minutes in a show, and not everything we film makes it into the episode."

The encounter happened just as he reported above. Other points of interest Eric and I can add is that there was a dead deer in the center of the road a short distance down from where the individual ran out from. The exact spot it came out of is a trail lined on both sides with chain link fence, and it leads into a development. It also runs parallel to high tension electrical lines, which are thought to be routes many animals will use for ease of travel. As Eric mentioned above, it had a look of surprise when it was directly in front of his vehicle. Even hunched over, this individual was 2 1/2 to 3 feet above the hood of his car. The hair color was reddish blond, and roughly 3-4 inches in length, and was flowing with the speed it was moving. The hair did not appear to be matted down. No additional facial details, as this incident happened so fast. Eric did not see, as he said above - a muzzle, antlers, tail, ears, etc. The legs were thicker than his, and its arms were moving back and forth, as if to propel itself faster.

There are a couple of reports from this area, of an animal that matches his description. The friend who was his passenger that night, saw the same thing as he did, and she too believes it was nothing other than a Sasquatch. The two of them have been out in the Pine Barrens together doing research for many years.
