Sasquatch Investigator

Press of Atlantic City

Last week, The Press reported some unexplained injuries to horses and some missing animals in Cape May County. In the week following, we received almost a dozen phone calls and emails. Some were guesses about what might have caused the injuries, while others had a sarcastic tone. But the most interesting call came from Mike Aragona, a New Jersey investigator for the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, or BFRO.

New Jersey has a Bigfoot investigator?
Yes it does we learned. Aragona, who was most interested in the reports of missing hens, said he handles most sasquatch investigations in the Garden State.

The BFRO Web site keeps a database of reported and possible sightings in the country. With 29 listings, New Jersey is not too shabby. We beat 20 other states, including Rhode Island, Delaware, Alaska and Maine. We tied New Mexico. One of the counties that propelled our humble state to its current standing is Ocean County, which reported four listings between 1970 and 1994. Burlington County leads the state with seven. Cape May, Atlantic and Cumberland counties had none.

So keep your eyes open.
