I would like to thank the Pardues, the Adairs and Chris Peterson
for helping organize an awesome expedition. It was great seeing
so many other returning members and new people as well on this trip.
Wednesday night we left Chip by his truck as he blasted flute and
drum sounds at South Power Lines (SPL). The rest of us ventured
up the forest road outside of SPL to see how far Chip's sounds would
travel. We made calls [the whole spectrum of sounds]- everything.
We received a very throaty howl response directly West of us and
South of Chip. In other words, whatever it was, was behind Chip's
position and to the left of us.
We heard that one time, then it remained quiet for a while afterwards
so we decided to return to Chip. Back at Chip's position Stacey
and I were joking around and laughing, and then well all heard a
whole tree come crashing down, as if it was pushed over. There was
no wind blowing.
We ventured over towards the fallen tree, about 50 yrds from the
tables and campfire at SPL, and that's when I noticed the figure
bobbing back and forth on the crest of the powerline cut. I saw
a figure sway back and forth and another figure moving between the
sides of the cut. The night sky was dimly glowing enough to see
the figures in silhouette. One figure was going from one side to
the next. Stacey and Dave saw this also. I looked through the binocs
and could actually make out a torso, a head, and an arm and a leg.
It was swaying back and forth. It was not branches swaying in the
wind. There was almost no breeze at all.
By this time it was well after midnight. Jerry, Stacey and myself
kept looking for more movement. Chris Peterson and Dave were nearby
and Chip was back at the campfire. I then moved closer to the first
powerline pole. I smelled a heavy urine odor. I asked Stacey and
the others if they smelled it. They did, but I don't think Chris
Peterson could smell it. It dissapited after a few seconds. I moved
forward slowly and the smell hit me again. That was when I felt
vibed. I felt tingly all over, and a very distinct sensation that
something did not want me to proceed any further. My left side more
so. I grabbed Stacey. She says she felt the tingle as well. It's
not something you can record or photograph or measure, but you can
sure feel it.
I suggested we all return to Chip and the campfire. I told Chip
what had happened. I said I felt good, because whatever it was,
did not seem menacing. It just wanted us to not get too close to
it (them). Chip smiled and told me about getting zapped on a BFRO
expedition on the Olympic Peninsula out West. On that trip he also
met others who had gotten zapped before on BFRO trips. He said they
call it 'infra-sound' out West.
We talked more. Then around 2 AM we all decided to leave, and Chip
offered to be the straggler, and stay behind.
Fifteen minutes after returning to base camp, Chip tore in claiming
several rocks were thrown at him from various directions, as he
sat at the camp fire, moments after we all drove away. He was pumped
and excited. He said there were at least three of them, throwing
small rocks toward him, but not hitting him, from three different
angles. We woke up Matt M. and Ricky, and grabbed the handheld thermals
and returned to the SPL.
Dave, Ricky and Matt scanned the area behind the tables. Ricky and
Dave said they saw something. Dave claimed he could make out a torso.
Matt looked through a thermal and could only see some small animals.
He walked in toward where Dave said it was standing, but nothing
big ran away. Matt said the others need to get used to looking through
thermals.
Stacey looked through the thermal towards the area where we encountered
the heavy urine. The figure we had observed on the powerline with
binocs was no longer present.
After some time we decided to leave. But we wanted to return the
next day to get a better visual of the terrain. Jerry was up and
out before the rest of us. I later met up with him and took photos.
There was a tree about six feet in height at the top of the powerline
crest that was swaying back and forth with the figure. I had Jerry
stand next to it to determine scale. Whatever the thing was the
night before was a lot larger than this six foot tree. It was taller
and wider. The figure darting back and forth from each side of the
powerline cut was smaller than the swaying figure.
Caroline and I did go up again Friday evening and found a concentrated
area of the smell by the first power pole, near where I felt the
"zap". Anyway, Thursday evening I wanted to go back up to SPLand
see if we could have the same thing happen to us. No howls, no figure
moving on the powerline, no strange smells. SPL later became
populated with other campers. We decided to go elsewhere.
I will let the others post their findings from Friday and Saturday.
