Operation e-Bigfoot

The term "e-Bigfoot" refers to two concepts:
"electronic-Bigfoot" and "environmental-DNA".

Operation e-Bigfoot (OEB) is a project run by the BFRO. The primary objective of OEB is to collect extended video footage of bigfoots with the help of thermal imaging drones. The secondary objective is e-DNA from snow tracks.

Both objectives can be easily accomplished with new technology along with the BFRO's extensive network of contacts and knowledge of active hotspots.

OEB has its own scientific agenda. It will become a TV series but the TV effort will adapt to the scientific agenda, rather than the other way around.

The TV series will be intelligent, natural, and naturally humorous. Think "Ford v Ferrari" meets "Deadliest Catch".  Many people will be involved.

We need some mature men or women (or a family) of substantial means who can back the project and appear on camera as part of the effort, ideally piloting their own $6,000 drones. See videos on right.

A sponsor or sponsor family must also have a willingness to fund an effort that is not under the gun to yield a profit. The objective of the project will be the advancement of science and recognition of, and preservation of, this uniquely important species. The TV series will document this project.

The details and overall costs of the project will be discussed with people who can potentially fund it.

The videos on the right demonstrate the effectiveness of the new technology, now within reach of hobbyists.

The first video from National Geographic explains e-DNA. The next two videos demonstrate the lastest thermal drone technology. See video notes for product names.

The key component is the high resolution thermal imager which can spot large animals in a forest from a quarter mile away, and spot them within seconds of launching the drone. That small camera attached to the drone is more effective than having 200 soldiers spread out in a forest with handheld thermal imagers. It turns one man into a small army of cameramen.

This project is expected to last for several years. It will yield several fantastic clips of Bigfoots that will be seen and lauded around the world. It will be a milestone in the history of citizen-science. You can make a mark in history with this new technology, and it could happen very quickly if you're in the right place.

If you or someone you know wants to make history and participate in a popular TV series at the same time, please contact the BFRO at ContactUS@BFRO.net
