LOCATION DETAILS: North side of Whiteswan Lake, accross from pack rat camp ground.

NEAREST TOWN: Canal Flats B.C.

NEAREST ROAD: Hwy 93

OBSERVED: On Thursady July 22nd 2004 I was fishing at Whiteswan lake, in the Kootenays of British Columbia. It was late, and dark, as thats when the big trout come in to the shallows to feed. I had a glow bobber on my line and sitting quietly in my boat about 50 feet from shore. The next thing I new, a large rock was lobbed from shore, just barely missing my boat. Buy the time I turned around and flicked my flash light on, I was just barely able to see the second boulder hitting the water. This second rock was the size of a large water melon. It would have been inhumanly possible to throw such an object that far. I pulled up my anchors and started rowing back to the other side of the lake, where the camp ground was. The side of the lake where the rocks came from, is very unaccesible to people, especially at night. When I talked to some people back at the camp ground, they had heard the rocks landing in the water. In fact they heard 5 rocks hit the water, I only heard the two, as my rowing would have muffled the sounds of the last three rocks.This whole incident has me rattled, I told my brother about it, and he recommended I write this site with my experience. ALSO NOTICED: I went back the next day and searched the area, where the rock thrower would have been. I found no footprints, or anything else that would help explain what happened.

OTHER WITNESSES: Just the people on shore who heard the splach of the boulders.

OTHER STORIES: Yes, the same thing happened to my wife and I, and my best friend 3 summers ago. In that incident, it was daylight, the rocks were smaller, and we were closer to shore. We decided that it must have been some kids walikng the trail, and trying to scare us. The latest encounter could not possibley been kids, or any other human for that matter. Rocks were to big, and they were thrown to far.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: very dark, no moon, warm and calm night, perfect for fishing.

ENVIRONMENT: Mostly pine forest, with rocky shore, this area is dencely forested and dosnt see much activity, except for a small trail that takes hours to reach from the camping side of the lake, secluded.
