Report # 78267(Class A) Submitted by witness Dianne Voss on Thursday, February 20, 2025.Hikers near the Pacific Crest Trail observe three sasquatches 24 miles north of Mt. Rainier at Government Meadows(Show Printer-friendly Version)
LOCATION DETAILS: Take Hwy 410 to the 70 road and we walked Horse Camp Trail to get to the emergency cabin.
[Investigator (MM) Notes: The cabin mentioned above is Uhrich Cabin at Government Meadows, which is on the Pacific Crest Trail 24 miles NE of Mt. Rainier. GPS for Cabin location: 47.089422, -121.395796 ]
NEAREST TOWN: Greenwater
NEAREST ROAD: Horse Camp Trail
OBSERVED: Sept 12, 2024, my fiancé and I were hiking to the snowmobile cabin at Government Meadows off the Horse Camp Trail in Greenwater. As we approached the cabin, I bent down pick up something I dropped, as I came up, I looked down toward the cabin. I saw a very large dark hairy being quickly walking across the bottom of the trail, right behind it was another one, a bit smaller with what looked like a youth on its back.
My fiancé looked at me, saw my eyes were huge and looked and saw it too. He had seen them crouched behind trees behind the cabin watching the hikers in the trail as if they were waiting for a moment of clearing to go and we surprised them.
We tried to run toward them to see them, but they were gone. We know it was not hikers. They were way too huge to be a man. No varying colors. They were hairy and very dark colored. We found what looked like a print when we approached the area we saw them. I didn’t get them on video, but I do have our conversation after we saw them and the print we found.
The print was about 18” long. As we were up there for a long time, we observed the hikers and the area, and we tried to disprove our sighting but still was not able to disprove what we saw.
OTHER WITNESSES: My fiancé and I was walking with me
OTHER STORIES: I was up at Government Meadows and my fiancé was out in the meadows snowmobiling. I was on the porch and saw a very large figure that looked like it was watching me move back into the woods.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: Day time around 1pm, cloudy with light rain
ENVIRONMENT: Wooded area with a large meadows. The Pacific Crest Trail runs through.
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Scott Taylor:
I called and talked with both witnesses. They drove up USFS 70 road past a couple of gravel pits to a locked gate. They parked at the gate. Then they hiked the road eastbound for about a half mile to where the PCT and an emergency shelter (Mike Uhrich Cabin) is located.
As they approached the cabin, there was a little hill you had to cross over which was directly behind the cabin. They were on the hill, dropping down to the cabin. They surprised three sasquatches who were hiding and watching the cabin. It seemed like the sasquatches did not expect people to approach the cabin from behind.
They saw three sasquatches. The sasquatches stood up and moved from right to left. The large male first, followed by the female with a juvenile. As the sasquatches walked to the left (north), they passed behind a little rise in the terrain that was about five feet high. The witnesses could see them from the waste up. The sasquatches rapidly walked out of sight.
The witnesses were without a doubt about these figures being sasquatches. They were very large and walked on two legs very quickly, and they were covered by mostly dark hair
Her description: Dark, almost black with gray. Both the same color. Male estimated 9 feet tall. Female estimated to be 8 feet tall. She could see the juvenile on its back.
She provided a video taken immediately after they saw the three subjects. Although the video does not show the subjects, it shows the witnesses reaction as well as a track line.
Diane says she also had a sighting the previous winter while snowmobiling in this same area. Her boyfriend dropped her off at the cabin. She was on the porch when saw a sasquatch on her right (south) about 150 feet away. It was peeking at her, but when it noticed her looking in its direction, it turned and walked away into the woods. She could see it clearly as it walked away.
In July we were able to get to the site. We parked at the horse camp and took the horse trail to the Pacific Crest Trail, then took it north to the cabin. The forest in this area is very lush and beautiful. This is perfect habitat for sasquatches. Although we found no evidence, that is expected. After a full winter snowfall and spring melt, there wouldn’t be anything to see. However, there is a long history of sasquatch sightings in this part of the Cascades. There are many reports from this area. I have several friends who have had sightings in the general area. I have no doubt that these witnesses saw two adult sasquatches and one juvenile sasquatch.
This photo shows the character of the forest at this location.
This photo indicates the approximate path of the sasquatches.
This photo indicates the direction that the sasquatches were going in when they walked away.
This is another bigfoot sighting to add to the list of reports near the Pacific Crest Trail, which extends from Mexico to Canada along the highest mountain ranges of California, Oregon and Washington.
I found a YouTube video showing Government Meadow and the roads to it. There may be a more direct route than shown in this video, but I would not advise trying to reach this place without a serious 4x4 with seriously big tires.
