[Investigator (MM) Notes:]

GPS Coordinates for sighting location:

47.853030, -124.309160

NEAREST TOWN: Forks

NEAREST ROAD: 101

OBSERVED: We were driving through a construction area on Hwy 101 and as we rounded a part of the highway, we seen a Sasquatch about 9 or ten feet tall, at least three feet wide at the shoulders. It walking into the bushes and trees. The movement was sudden and erratic like it was hurrying but it pushed the alder trees to the side and within a few steps we stopped seeing the brush moving and it disappeared completely. Its fur was black like a bears but it moved on two legs in a flash. Everything in total was about five seconds.

OTHER WITNESSES: 2 witnesses. One driving one passenger. We were looking at the side talking about the road work and we both stopped talking the same time and just observed. Both of us took a moment to talk and then confirmed what we seen.

OTHER STORIES: Just north towards Beaver. And towards La push

TIME AND CONDITIONS: Weather was clear. Lighting was still pretty good. It was early evening about 5:30 - 6:00pm

ENVIRONMENT: Side of the road up a little hill heading into the woods. Past the house with the chainsaw carvings. Before the construction stop lights

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Matthew Moneymaker:

I spoke with both Jerry Jackson and his wife Isabele. They are both very credible. Both are Quileute tribal members. They were heading north on Hwy 101 to their home in La Push. They both work at a resort in the area, and both are well connected to Natural Resources Department for the Quileute tribe.

The bigfoot was at the tree line roughly 15 yards from the edge of the highway. It was very tall and had very dark fur. Neither got a good look at the face. Both of the witnesses have seen bears many times. They are absolutely certain it was not a bear.

They were slowing down as they were approaching the traffic control light on the highway for the construction zone.

Note: The aerial images shown below were taken in the past so they do not show the construction work being done at that location now.

Jerry says many people on the Quileute Reservation have a sighting or encounter story, but they are discouraged from sharing those stories with outsiders. This incident occurred well outside the reservation so Jerry thought it would be OK to report it.

When he got home to La Push and told his grandmother (a witness herself) about his sighting on 101, his grandmother asked, "Was it a black one or a brown one?" He said it was a black one. She has apparently seen different ones on different occasions.

As mentioned in the recent report from Beaver, the Olympic Peninsula likely has the highest concentration of bigfoots anywhere in the country.

Why are there more there than anywhere else?

Answer: The same reason there are more Indian reservations there than anywhere else ... There's a lot of reliable natural resources there. Between all the salmon runs (different species) and the abundance of hard-to-reach elk and deer, and the rainforest extremes of everything else ... You will not starve on the Olympic Peninsula. It is relatively easy living ... if you can handle the near constant drizzle, in between the regular storm fronts charging southward from the North Pacific. It's a wet green place with lots of protein that flows up the rivers and creeks from the ocean. The food delivers itself around there.
