Night sighting by motorist along North Lamar Road
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 1987

SEASON: Summer

MONTH: August

STATE: Tennessee

COUNTY:

LOCATION DETAILS: Rutherford County, TN. North Lamar Road, near Gladeville, Tennessee

NEAREST TOWN: Gladeville

NEAREST ROAD: North Lamar Road

OBSERVED: I was on the way home from work about 9PM one night. It was clear except for some ground fog. I saw movement on the right hand side of the road and thought a deer was about to cross so slowed down. This was a heavily wooded rural area then, and still is mostly. As I got closer I saw it was a manlike "thing" stepping out of the brush and weeds and about to cross the road. I really freaked out and jammed the brakes on. The "thing" just walked calmly across, looked towards me for a few seconds and then went down the other side of the road. It vanished into the darkness. I had to wait for several minutes to stop shaking enough to drive home. This was right near my house.

ALSO NOTICED: It was covered with hair that appeared in the headlights to be reddish brown. All of it was covered with hair about maybe 4" to 5 " long. It walked like a normal person would but was hair covered. It didn't appear to be upset by the car.

OTHER WITNESSES: There was no witness but myself. I was coming home from my job and was alone in the car. And please note I have never seen one of these creatures again and I still live here.

ENVIRONMENT: This is a country road going through a wooded area bordering on Gov. land and a large lake. There are untold hundreds of acres filled with wildlife.
