(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 1993

SEASON: Fall

MONTH: September

DATE: unknown

PROVINCE: Alberta

COUNTRY: Canada

NEAREST TOWN: Nordegg

NEAREST ROAD: Highway 11

OBSERVED: Hello my sighting took place at a little camping site called camp alexo, west of Rocky Mountain House, east of Nordegg, around 10 years ago.Your probably wandering why I'm just reporting this, it's because I never knew about this reporting site till today. The sighting took place when we all decided to take a walk one night. We all headed down a hill past the boys cabin. We came to a set of railroad tracks turned left and started heading to a old cemetery we were all told about. We found the cemetery and we all explored, some of the graves were from the 1800's to the 1900's. After about an hour it started to get dark so we all decide to head back. As we were going back up the tracks we all of a sudden heard one of the girls scream. When we all turned around we saw her flashlight shining up on this old tower. I wasn't ready to see what i saw and to this day my hair stands on end when i tell this, but on top of this tower which itself was ABOUT 40 TO 50 FEET HIGH stood this creature, when we all shined our lights on it it proceeded to jump of this tower. When it raised it's arms to jump off you could clear as day see the hair hanging from it's arms, but what get's me is how it could jump off this tower like i was jumping of a one foot high curb. After it landed on the ground it took of into the bushes we could clearly hear trees breaking as it ran away. All of a sudden there was silence then about a minute later there was this loud earily high pitched scream that just went right through you. I know it was ten years ago but i Know what i saw and till the day i die i will say it was him. (Name withheld)

ALSO NOTICED: ya there was also a distinct odor lingering in the air

OTHER WITNESSES: around 14 to 20 people. we were hiking

OTHER STORIES: ya in the main cabin there are articles and pictures of sightings from over the years around that area

TIME AND CONDITIONS: approximetly 9 oclock

ENVIRONMENT: i think it was a typical spuce forest

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Adrian Erickson:

I talked to R.C. and I.B. who were both 16 at the time and I feel both are credible. I talked as well to the manager of the Camp Alexo, who says that there have been several sightings in the area over the years, and in fact, in 1988, Rene Dahinden came out in the spring and investigated reports in the area. As I am quite familiar and have worked extensively in this area, I investigated and discovered that the tower was in fact wooden cribbing along the railroad that was originally used to load coal, and that, depending on where the Sasquatch was positioned, that it likely jumped between 20 to 25 feet to the ground. R.C. was impressed by the size but the first thing he noticed was the hair on the arms, and added that it didn't appear to have a neck.

About BFRO Investigator Adrian Erickson:

I am 50 years old and have hunted in several countries, including 16 safaris in Africa, where I have taken elephant, lion, leopard, rhino, cape buffalo, hippo, crocodile and many other animals with the bow and arrow. I grew up in northern Alberta hunting and trapping, living on the edge of the bush. In 1961, when I was 8 years old, I along with my 2 older brothers, saw a Sasquatch. My second sighting, also a published report, occurred in 2002. I hunt very little now, live in Calgary, Alberta, and as well I have a large development project in southern B.C. I would not harm a Sasquatch and hope that I can meaningfully contribute to the point where the scientific world and the general public recognises that the Sasquatch does indeed exist.
