NEAREST TOWN: Beaver

NEAREST ROAD: Pike Co. route 524 & 523 (Swift Creek Rd. & Buckhollow Rd.)

OBSERVED: On a summer day in 2013 or 2014, my dog (a miniature Italian Greyhound) and I were driving on back roads. I parked my car and was going to walk to the top of the hill. My dog, which travels with me, wouldn’t get out of the car which was very odd.

I walked to the top of the hill and was looking down the gravel road ahead. At first I didn’t notice the creature. I started to turn when I caught movement out of the corner of my eye. When I turned my eyes back on the subject, I noticed it turning. It took a few steps and disappeared into the treeline.

I saw the creature from the side. It was being about 7-foot-tall. It had gray hair. The body was very thick and its arms hung to about its knees. I couldn't see from his knees down. I didn’t notice any odor.

ALSO NOTICED: My dog (normally very active) would not get out of the car and acted very out of character.

OTHER WITNESSES: None

OTHER STORIES: Yes, approximately 5 to 6 miles away at a camp around sunset on the same day.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: It was 2:00 to 3:00 pm, sunny and warm (70-80 degrees) with a few scattered clouds.

ENVIRONMENT: It was heavily wooded with overgrown edges on the sides of a very eroded gravel/dirt road.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Dusty Ruth:

I first interviewed the witness via phone on 4/15/2018. I then arranged to meet him in town, near the location of the sighting. We traveled to the scene of the sighting, at the top of Buckhollow Rd. and the intersection of an unnamed logging road, just south of Swift Creek Rd., north of the town of Beaver.

On a summer day in 2013 or 2014, the witness and his dog were driving on back roads. It was sunny and about 80 degrees at 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. He had parked his car and walked to the top of the hill. He was looking down the gravel road ahead of him. He was standing at a vantage point of 20 - 25 feet higher than the subject and about 55 yards away. At first, he didn’t recognize the creature and assumed the form was a decaying tree at the side of the road. He was actually looking past it, on down the road. The witness started to turn to his right when he caught movement out of the corner of his eye. When he turned his eyes back on the subject, he noticed that it had turned to its left. It took 2 or 3 steps and disappeared into the treeline.

The witness saw the creature from the side and described it as about 7-foot-tall and weighing about 800 – 900 lbs. Its hair was gray, about the color of burned charcoal and was very matted and clumped together. He said it was perfectly camouflaged and that was why he thought it was a decaying tree. The body was very thick with “huge, super thick” thighs, butt and chest. Its arms hung to about its knees. From the knees down was covered by the tall grass and weeds in which it was standing. He was unable to get a good look at its face.

The witness described the strides as being very fluid, almost like someone riding an escalator. Even though it was walking, its upper body didn’t dip or bob. The reporter didn’t notice any odor.

The area was heavily wooded, with hills and small creeks and ponds. Wildlife is abundant as I saw deer tracks and coyote scat. The area was also infested with ticks. I didn’t notice any apparent bigfoot tracks or other evidence in the immediate area.

The trees have been trimmed, the weeds cut and the road widened since the sighting.
