Witness hears possible whoops and chatter behind his home north of Edwardsville

SEASON: Winter MONTH: December DATE: 17 STATE: Kansas COUNTY: Wyandotte County LOCATION DETAILS: north of Edwardsville south of I 70 NEAREST TOWN: Edwardsville KS NEAREST ROAD: I 70 OBSERVED: Recently was sitting at computer at 6:00 am. No one else was up in the house and no lights on in the neighborhood. Loud whoop in my back yard never heard this sound before. Very loud I was in the house early morning no one else up. My house is very sound limited from the outside this was very loud. Got up looked out on my deck too dark to see anything sounded like it was in my backyard. never saw anything or heard anything like this before. i'm an outside person very observent and know animals in my area have seen couger, fox and deer in my area. ALSO NOTICED: no OTHER WITNESSES: no OTHER STORIES: no TIME AND CONDITIONS: early morning around 6 am ENVIRONMENT: wooded creek bottom of the hill into the river bottom area along the Kansas river in a subdivision
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Carter Buschardt:
Spoke with witness via phone. He normally checks BFRO site for reports in his area and after BFRO Report #48012 was published, he contacted me, as this is pretty close to his home as the crow flies. Hie added 2 recent incidents that give some relevance and credence to his original report. He is an experienced camper, not hunter, and is familiar with the normal sounds of wildlife in his area. The whoop he reported was nothing like he had ever heard before, both in his neighborhood and camping up until recently. Very loud and deep, and he "felt it bounce off his chest".This past summer he had something steal all the tomatoes out of his garden. They were giant beefsteak tomatoes which were almost the size of grapefruits probably several bushels worth. They were all gone overnight except for one half eaten and sitting on top of his fence. Also, this past Friday, Nov.11th, he heard "two or more creatures chattering back and forth" in the woods behind his home. Sounded like "kids talking real fast". He has been researching sounds on BFRO site since all this started and is and is fairly certain of what he is hearing.
