Submitted by witness on Tuesday, March 25, 2014.
Possible road crossing early in the day near Jasper
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2014

SEASON: Spring

MONTH: March

DATE: 25

STATE: Texas

COUNTY: Jasper County

NEAREST TOWN: Jasper

NEAREST ROAD: County Road 32, close to Hwy 63

OBSERVED: I was driving to work this morning on a long stretch of road (CR 32) 20 miles from Jasper, Texas and saw in a distance a black object I thought to be a wide or 2 seat ATV on the road. This is not unusual so I did not think much about it. As I got closer it went to the side of the road (not unusual for ATVs either). I slowed down because I was approaching what I thought was the ATV and it went into the ditch. As I approached a big black thing stood up lifted up his leg and crossed a log, going into the forest. It had been bent over until I got close to it, I guess. I can not explain what it was. When it crossed the log it disappeared into the forest. I know exactly where it crossed and I have asked my husband to go and look for foot prints. I have never believed in Big Foot but I can tell you this is not anything I have ever seen in my 53 years of life! When I got to work this morning I shared what I had seen with co-workers. One of them suggested I write you and gave me your website information.

ALSO NOTICED: Not to my knowledge, my husband is going by there this afternoon to look for prints.

OTHER WITNESSES: No

OTHER STORIES: I have heard stories in the past but never really paid attention because I did not believe in Big Foot.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: 7:50am. Overcast, sun was just starting to shine through the clouds.

ENVIRONMENT: Pine trees on both sides of the road (CR 32).

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Brad Bacon:

I spoke with the witness in a telephone interview and can include the following information. The witness knew the exact time of day as she checks the progress of her commute to work with various landmarks along her way. She had a good field of view, but daylight was still somewhat limited. As she got closer she recalled seeing a large leg with a knee. She recalled clearly seeing a knee and focused her attention on that part of the anatomy. She recalled the leg and knee rising up and crossing over the log. She said it was tall and was out of sight very quickly. She described the creature to be black in color and the covering was more like hair than fur. Her husband went to the location and attempted to search for any signs of tracks, but the area was heavily covered with pine needles and leaf litter. The witness expressed concern about feeding her own animals in the dark or in the predawn hours. I addressed the witness' concerns and advised her what to look and more importantly what to listen for. I found the witness to be credible and sincere in all accounts of her event.

I classified this as a Class B only because of the lack of physical characteristics normally associated with a Sasquatch. It is a high probability that the witness observed a Sasquatch preoccupied with something in the road. The area has a rich history of sightings and this region of Texas contains several National and State Parks that include vast forests, large reservoirs, numerous streams and abundant wildlife. BFRO has conducted several expeditions in the region and the area of the witness sighting was recently profiled on an episode of Finding Bigfoot.
