SEASON: Spring

MONTH: June

NEAREST TOWN: Bellevue

OBSERVED: Me and my son was out bow hunting and had just set up turkey decoys and blind and sat down eat lunch when I got the feeling we were being watched. I looked over through my scope and saw something across the field from us squatting down watching from a trail head. Right away I knew what it was. I said to my son "Hey look! Is that what I think it is?"

When my son looked in that direction it stood up and walked away through the woods. I watched it for longer than about 100 yards. It had fierce eyes and looked almost human but it wasn't at all. It had reddish brown fur, no neck and pointed head. The eyes I will never forget. They scared the he'll outta me. It was at least 8 feet tall. I don't think it meant us harm but it could easy. I still go hunting there but always watching out.

ALSO NOTICED: We have had other strange experiences in 2 other areas in Gifford Point

OTHER WITNESSES: My son

OTHER STORIES: Yes a report in 70s [Fontenelle Forest report on BFRO site]

TIME AND CONDITIONS: In morning and sunny but very quiet

ENVIRONMENT: Missouri river bottom

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Matthew Moneymaker:

I spoke with witness Jim Pospisil by phone. He provided other important details about this incident.

Jim is 59 years old and has lived in the area for many years. He now drives for Uber in Omaha. The other witness, his son Eric, services HVAC systems around Omaha.

Jim and Eric were turkey hunting in Gifford Point WMA with crossbows. Jim's crossbow had a scope on it (40x). After spotting the figure with his eyes roughly 250 yards away, he used his scope to get a better look at it.

After alerting his son Eric to the figure, they both watched it stand up from its crouching position and turn to walk away down a small slope toward the river. As it moved away down the slope it reached up with one arm to grab a branch above it as if to steady itself. After it was out of view Jim and Eric walked over to where they saw it. They went to the tree it walked by and under the branch it reached up to grab. The tree branch was 12 feet off the ground. They concluded the figure must have stood around 8 feet tall. The branch was far out of reach from these two guys.

The ground around there was too full of ground cover to yield footprint impressions.

There had been river flooding in this area prior to the sighting. It looked very different at the time. There is much more tree cover now than in 2012. That is how they were able to see 250 yards through the woods at that time.

Due to the continuity of reports along the Missouri River south of Omaha for decades, Gifford Point WMA is likely a safe sanctuary for bigfoots that feed on the many deer there and in Fontenelle Forest. Access by hunters in Gifford Point WMA is limited by permits. Fontenelle Forest has a managed deer hunt only in December -- no hunting the rest of the year.

If I lived in Omaha I would be waiting for the next big snow storm that will cover Gifford WMA and Fontenelle Forest with a layer of snow. The leaves will be off the trees so after a few days the snow cover will show snow tracks of many animals that can be seen from the air. I would fly a drone over Gifford and Fontenelle to look for bigfoot snow tracks.

A high flying drone would not disturb any wildlife but would be the best way to spot bigfoot tracks in snow. If there are bigfoot tracks visible in the snow (the track pattern is very distinctive) then it will help narrow down which part(s) of Gifford or Fontenelle are favored by the bigfoot(s).
