Possible sighting by a motorist avoiding deer west of Escanaba
(Show Printer-friendly Version)
YEAR: 2005
SEASON: Fall MONTH: October STATE: Michigan COUNTY: Delta County LOCATION DETAILS: 45°46'56.90"N 87°19'33.59"W NEAREST TOWN: Perronville, MI NEAREST ROAD: M69 OBSERVED: Heading west on 17th Rd as I was making a left hand turn onto C Rd. A couple deer ran across the road from my right to the left so as the driver, I was fixated on not hitting the deer. At this time my passenger was looking west (right side of vehicle) and said "Holy s#!t what is that!", by the time I looked there was only a large dark upright blob already in the tree line, so I did not get a good look, but my passenger swears it was a sasquatch. He thought it was chasing the deer. OTHER WITNESSES: 1 other witness was passenger in the truck, he got a very good look at this creature OTHER STORIES: no TIME AND CONDITIONS: late afternoon, just before dusk, clear ENVIRONMENT: side yard of a bi-level home bordering 2 roads with a swamp on the back of the property
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Rich Meyer:
Dennis is a long time hunter and fisherman and very familiar with the area this sighting happened in. He is a very stand up guy and refers to the figure as a dark blob only because he himself was concentrating on the deer that had crossed the road, only getting a glimpse of it as it headed into the trees. While his friend got a really good look at it being the passenger, and seated on the right side of the vehicle.
After checking out the area, there is a large corn field to the west and a large open area, or hay fields to the east. If the Bigfoot was using the northern edge, which is bordered by a cedar and tag elder swamp, of the western cornfield as a "hunting" ground and in pursuit of the deer, it would have come out right where this occurred.
Unfortunately I was not able to reach Dennis' friend, the passenger, to ask details about his sighting.
They did not have an opportunity to get out of the vehicle and look for tracks as they were in a hurry to get to their destination.
