Sasquatch meets car running along US Hwy. 219
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2008

SEASON: Winter

DATE: Tuesday

STATE: West Virginia

COUNTY: Greenbrier County

LOCATION DETAILS: North from Lewisburg, WV Interstate-64 exit, take 219 north about 17 miles. Near the town of Renick, WV

NEAREST TOWN: Renick

NEAREST ROAD: 219

OBSERVED: My finance and I live in Greenbrier County in the town of Renick. We had to go to Charleston early that morning around 1:30am for a medical appointment.

We pulled out of our driveway and started heading South. About 50 feet down the road, all of a sudden we see this tall, hairy, lanky, glowing eyes of a creature running North on our side of the road. It came right down the passenger side of the car.

I didn't say a word, I looked at my fiance and he looked at me and said "What did you just see?" I said "Oh my God, I just saw bigfoot." and he got so excited and was saying "I saw it too," "I saw bigfoot!"

This thing must have stood 7 to 8 feet tall. It was running and it's arms were long and lanky, swinging back and forth as it ran. We pulled in a near by parking lot and turned around but did not see it again.

After we returned from Charleston one of my neighbors walked along the fence line with me. We saw where it crushed the grass while running. Where it crossed the fence, I found some strands of hair caught in the wire.

ALSO NOTICED: When I walked along the fence line I could see the grass weighed down along the road way in long strides. I believe I saw footprints going up the hill into the pasture.

OTHER WITNESSES: My fiancee.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: 1:30am. Foggy and Misty that morning.

ENVIRONMENT: Pasture land and nearby sink hole with caves. Lots of caves in the area.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Stephen Willis:

The witness contacted the BFRO following the 2008 WV Expedition report in the Charleston newspaper. She told several of her friends and relatives, most of whom did not believe these animals lived in Greenbrier County.

-Foggy conditions limited the sighting distance to about 100 feet.

-The sighting lasted approximately 7-10 seconds, time for the creature to run about four steps while meeting their car.

-No facial features were recognizable other than eyes reflecting red in the car headlights and the hair covered face.

-When asked to compare between "basketball player and football player build" she responded, "tall and lanky like a basketball player".

-The arm length exceeded human proportions and came to its knees.

-The creature did not attempt to shield its eyes from the bright car lights

-The black hair sample collected stunk, "like a wet dog" smell.
