Strange, tall creature seen crossing the road at Kennedy Lake
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2007

SEASON: Winter

MONTH: January

DATE: 1st

PROVINCE: British Columbia

COUNTRY: Canada

OBSERVED: We were travelling back from Tofino to Victoria when our truck broke down. This was right by lake Kennedy right by a large rock face and a bit of a turn-around area. There is a large tree with a surfboard attached to it high up. This is the second time that one of our vehicles has failed at this exact spot but that is a whole other story.
We were there for hours trying to get hold of a tow truck. About an hour after dark, my mother-in-law and I were standing in the turn-around alerting cars with our flashlights trying to get them to slow down around the corner. We both saw the silouette or a strange creature about 30-40 feet away crossing the road. It appeared to be tall and very skinny walking upright on its very long legs.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Colleen McDonald:

I found the witness to be sincere and forthright in the retelling of the report.

The sighting happened one hour after sunset, the weather was overcast with a slight drizzle in the evening. It was dark out but the occasional car was going by with the headlights on.

The witness saw the silhouette of a creature near the rock face heading across the road toward the lake. It had a slow gait but took large steps and moved very smoothly. It lifted its legs high up to its torso and took long steps. The limbs were longer than the torso about 1/4 more than the torso length.

The witness said the creature was smaller than a bear standing up and was more kid like. It was skinny with long arms. She also mentioned the creature looked humpbacked. It reminded her of pictures of Kokopelli (the flute player symbol in Hopi and Anasazi art).
