Possible vocalizations and rock clacking near Knob Fork
(Show Printer-friendly Version)
YEAR: 2005
SEASON: Fall MONTH: October DATE: 10-10-05 STATE: West Virginia COUNTY: Wetzel County LOCATION DETAILS: There is a X-mas tree nursery before the entrance and only one road in, one road out. NEAREST TOWN: Hundred, West Virginia NEAREST ROAD: n/a OBSERVED: My dad and 2 of his friends and I were on a hunting trip in WV. My friend and I went to go get firewood. We got to the pile of wood with the truck and started loading. Out of nowhere some loud screams came out of the valley. The screams sounded like a woman was being attacked. They sounded LOUD. The lungs that belted these screams out had to be huge.
I've heard some scream recordings on the Internet since then and they are similar. There is no way a human could scream this long and loud. It sounded like it was only a hundred yards away.
Through the night, we heard similar screams in the distance, from more than one direction. Had to be more than one.
ALSO NOTICED: Some of the others with us said they heard other sounds that weekend -- sounds like rocks being knocked together. OTHER WITNESSES: My dad, his two friends and me. TIME AND CONDITIONS: 7:30ish p.m.until 1:00 a.m. ENVIRONMENT: Mountains surronding valleys and fields of grass. One or two fallen in houses on the edge of the fields.
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Stephen Willis:
The witness talked me through the events that occurred during the weekend of October 8 – 9, 2005.
The first incident was at 7:30 p.m., while he was collecting wood for a campfire. He stated that he and a friend heard an extremely loud vocalization from beyond a rise in a field, which unnerved them. They were shaken and decided not to remain in that area any longer. The two returned to the camp and found the other hunters who were with them had heard the same sound.
A series of the vocalizations continued for some time. The witness and his friends heard multiple sources of vocalizations throughout the night.
The hunters also heard sounds of rocks being knocked together. Some noises were within 100 feet of the campfire. Whatever made the sounds never came close enough for the group to see it.
