Motorists have nighttime sighting near Pulaski.
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 1989

SEASON: Fall

MONTH: November

DATE: 15

STATE: Tennessee

COUNTY: Giles County

LOCATION DETAILS: Not sure exactly where on US 64 - somewhere between Pulaski and Fayetteville. There were woods to the right of the car where a bigfoot was running. We were traveling east on US 64.

NEAREST TOWN: Pulaski

NEAREST ROAD: US 64

OBSERVED: We were in the car heading back home (probably around 10:00 pm) when the sighting occurred. We were traveling east down US 64. There were high winds and my dad had trouble keeping the car on the road. We were driving along when we spotted something run across the road in front of us. It appeared to look like a bear, only more human features, but the rate at which it ran across the road made us believe it could not have been a bear. My dad (who has since passed away in 2002) and I are the only ones in the car who were able to spot what we believe was a bigfoot. My mother was in the car and looked down for a moment and missed what we saw. It happened so fast. The one thing I can remember is the bigfoot was searching for shelter quickly with the storm approaching. I could see that the bigfoot was fearful of the storm and was looking for shelter. It was one of the most unbelievable things I have ever witnessed. I have shared my story with friends and family for years. I believe I saw a bigfoot in the flesh to this day. It was amazing!

OTHER WITNESSES: One other witness, my dad.

OTHER STORIES: We went back to the dinner theatre a year or so later and mentioned the incident to someone sitting at our table. Someone there said that there had been sightings of bigfoot in Pulaski.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: ~10 pm - After we had been to a dinner theatre show in Pulaski. The weather was bad - high winds (there was a tornado in Huntsville, AL that night that did damage - that is the only reason I can remember the exact date). The rain was fast approaching.

ENVIRONMENT: There were some houses along the road but it was mostly rural. Not sure about any landmarks.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Stan Courtney:

I spoke with the witness by phone. The following details can be added to the report:

--Length of observation was brief, maybe five to ten seconds.
--The animals height was about six foot and weight was about 300 pounds.
--Witnesses first thought it was a bear, but because it was always running upright made them realize that it was something else.
--Animal was very muscular with dark brown coarse hair.
--The family was unable to see any facial features.
