Possible dusk sighting near Lake Hudson State Park

YEAR: 1995

SEASON: Spring

STATE: Michigan

COUNTY: Lenawee County

LOCATION DETAILS: This occurred right on M-156 south of Canandaigua at a guardrail that covers a little creek

NEAREST TOWN: Canandaigua

NEAREST ROAD: M-156 between Brown and Medina

OBSERVED: My husband and I had just been over to a friends house to purchase a car. On the way home we were driving south on M-156 at about dusk. Our son was in the vehicle but he was lying down in the back seat. When we reached a set of guardrails something suddenly appeared directly in front of us. It was tall and dark. It then disappeared off to the east.

My husband had stopped the car and we both just looked at each other in amazement. We didn't know how we hadn't hit this thing since it was so close to us. It disappeared very fast. There was a car coming from the other direction that was quite a ways away that stopped.

Unfortunately there is not much we can describe about this thing. It was tall, dark, two-legged, and moved very fast.

We were both so shook up at the time we didn't investigate more on the scene which we've always regretted. We didn't talk with the person in the other vehicle although there's a chance he was a caller to a radio station that I've described below.

OTHER WITNESSES: Husband and I both witnessed. There was another vehicle further up that stopped. Shortly after this on a call-in radio program on WLEN there was a caller who didn't go into any detail but said he had witnessed something strange in that area and wanted to get in contact with the other witness. I could only guess that he might have been the other car but I wasn't able to talk to him at that time. I have always regretted not making more of an effort to locate him.

OTHER STORIES: No

TIME AND CONDITIONS: Shortly after dusk, we had just turned headlights on.
Weather was clear

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Eric Lester:

I spoke with both witnesses by phone.

The incident occurred sometime during the spring of 1995, about 8 pm or so. They were driving south on M-156 when they seen a dark-haired figure move across the road in front of their car. They estimated that it was definitely over 6 feet tall, and probably between 7-8 feet tall. They were driving about 50 mph and it appeared right in front of them. They thought they were going to hit it; the figure moved across the road extremely fast, in about 3 steps, and was gone. Overall, the sighting lasted only a few seconds.

There was another witness driving another car the opposite way, who was farther away from the incident. That witness stopped his car after the creature crossed the road. They were never able to get in touch with this witness.

Both witnesses remember this as if it happened yesterday. It remains very vivid, and they say they will never forget it.
