Daylight road crossing sighting by motorist in Cogar
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2003

SEASON: Summer

MONTH: June

DATE: 13th

STATE: Oklahoma

COUNTY: Caddo County

LOCATION DETAILS: Go through Union City. Get on highway 152, drive about 15 minutes until you get to the Cogar "quick stop" and trun left on a road. Go straight until you get to an intersection. (I saw it crossing from the right to the left)

NEAREST TOWN: El Reno

NEAREST ROAD: Highway 152

OBSERVED: My wife and I were driving through Cogar, Oklahoma in the afternoon on our way to her parents house. We were about 100 yards from approaching an intersection when I saw a [dark hair-covered, manlike] creature on two legs crossing the intersection we were about to turn on. It was running fast and it looked like it possibly stepped over a barbwire fence.

I also saw something black about 25 feet from the fence as if it had come to a sitting position and i kept my eyes on it and when i got to the intersection i turned to see if it was there but didnt see anything.

I dont think what i had my eyes on was what i saw crossing the road but i did see something about 5-6 feet tall cross the intersection fast and step over the fence.

My wife did not see it but told me that many sightings have been reported around there and so did her dad when we got there. There has also been known to be a black panther in that area but this did not look like a panther. I was really amazed at what i saw that day. I never thought I'd see something like that.

The road we were on had trees to the right and a farm to the left. When I saw it crossing the road it could have been hiding in tall grass afterwards.

OTHER WITNESSES: no

OTHER STORIES: Yes, before i got married, my wife had told me that some folks had came to her and her parents house and asked if they have seen any unusual creature walking around because they said they spotted it and the were looking for it. She told me this long before my sighting. She also told me that the guys had found footprints around a bridge.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: about 1:00-2:30PM, hot, dry, humid sunlight, rained later on that evening

ENVIRONMENT: lots of farm land, wooded areas, and there was a farm gas station on the road goin left at the intersection. We headed there first and got some gas after i spotted what seemed to be a sasquash.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Matthew Moneymaker:

I spoke with the witness about the incident. His wife's family lives in the Cogar area. They say most people in the Cogar area have either seen these things, or know someone who has.

This general area, around El Reno, is one of the most consistent sighting zones in the state of Oklahoma.
