Report # 50075  (Class A)
Submitted by witness Michael Loyd on Monday, October 26, 2015.
ROSETTA STONE REPORT: A sasquatch on railroad bed near intersection with power lines -- 16 miles SW of Macon
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2015

SEASON: Fall

MONTH: October

DATE: 26

STATE: Georgia

COUNTY: Peach County

LOCATION DETAILS: It is between mosely road and hwy 49 mills circle runs off mosely rd my mother's house is at 139 mills circle that where I was,

[Investigator (MM) notes:

At the time of first public posting (now), this report is nearly 10 year old. The mother mentioned above passed away earlier in 2024 according to obituary records. Unknown who lives at that address now, but it is not the witness, who is unreachable now.

The only relevance for that address on Mill Ct. now is its proximity to the railroad bed where the sighting occurred. It was on that railroad bed somewhere roughly between Mills Ct. and the Roberts Christmas Tree Farm. So that farm is a better place to park if you want to go look around where the incident occurred. ]

NEAREST TOWN: Byron ga

NEAREST ROAD: Hwy 49

OBSERVED: I had been looking for deer. It was getting on the late side so I headed for home. I was walking down train tracks. The tracks are flat in this area. I can see long way. It was about a hour to hour and a half before dark.

I noticed long way down a very dark or black spot that at first I thought was the curve in the tracks. Then I realized it was not the curve cause it was too far right, so I kept my eyes on it as I was walking. I thought it was shadow or something, then I noticed I could make out that it was standing up like a person. I knew it was not a deer. I could make out its head was not shaped human like and its shoulders were very wide.

It was on right side of tracks close to or stradle the rail. This thing then moved so fast . The banks on both sides in this area are very steep and high. It moved from my right side across tracks to left side then up bank in 3 steps. I could see the legs moving. This thing was leaning forward as it moved. The head was out front almost like it was falling, only it was not falling but moving very fast. No person could have covered that much ground as fast. The width of the track bed and gravel there is pretty wide. This thing covered about 35 to 40 ft in 3 running steps. It was not a deer. It was not a bear, and it was not a man. I spend every day in these woods and have for years. This has really upset me.

ALSO NOTICED: We noticed noise out in woods near our house for last week, growling and foot steps and woods limbs shaking. Something hitting parked cars in yard.

OTHER WITNESSES: Only me

TIME AND CONDITIONS: Around 530 in afternoon. It was cloudy. The lighting was not the best but I know what I saw.

ENVIRONMENT: A Xmas tree field near by a large cotton field back my mom house hwy 49 overpass over tracks near home. Plenty of wild game

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Matthew Moneymaker:

This report was sent in nearly 10 years ago. We did not have anyone in central GA who was interested in this county, apparently. No one had read this report.

The phone number provided by the witness is disconnected now. A few days have passed with no reply to the email.

When a report is this old there may be good reasons for why the person is hard to contact.

The BFRO has some rules about posting reports. One rule we don't bend very often. The rule is that the witness must be accessible by phone. Someone in the BFRO needs to speak with the witness, and the witness must be willing to speak with others in the group, if ever contacted later on.

If the report was recently submitted ... but the witness is unreachable ... it would not pass muster, on its face. That is a big red flag. But it is no longer a red flag if the contact info is nearly ten years old ... especially when you don't know how elderly the witness was to begin with ...

If there is some close geographic corroboration in the form of other credible sighting reports in the vicinity, as there is in this case, then odds are better that the story was not fabricated.

Nothing about this sighting report seems fake on the surface. I will bend the rules here and make it public even though I could not reach the witness before posting it. If this witness is still around then I can hope and assume he will get in touch with us, as other people in the Byron area share the story, and share his name -- Michael Loyd.

What is verifiable: There is an obituary article for Byron mentioning a woman, likely the mother of the witness, who passed away earlier this year (2024). The obit lists the only man in Byron with the name of the witness as one of her children. This was likely the mother mentioned in the report who lived at the address on Mills Ct., along the railroad bed near the intersection of the power lines.

Another family member of the deceased woman (according to the obit), and therefore relative of witness Michael Loyd, is named Brandi Boatright.

Regarding the Rosetta Stone aspect of this report. A Rosetta Stone is an interpretation key that helps explain many other things. In Bigfoot research an important key will help explain and *predict* locations that a bigfoot will favor. Keys like this help to focus a search effort immensely, so it is possible for one person to do it alone, or without much other assistance. A bow hunter of deer and elk is a master of keys like this -- but keys that apply to deer and elk.

Short version of this Rosetta Stone for bigfoots: In some parts of the country bigfoots are more likely to be spotted near intersections of their fast travel routes, where those routes come together in wooded areas.

Creeks and rivers are relatively slow travel routes for them, whereas railroad beds and big power line cuts across the landscape are fast travel routes.

Deer are known to follow railroad beds and powerline cuts as well. That is why hunters like this witness will walk along train tracks where it is safe to do so -- especially where approaching trains can be seen and heard from such a long distance away. That also means there is ample time and distance to quickly disappear into the trees if you really do not want to confront or even be spotted by humans. That would certainly hold true after dark all of the time, and would be true most of the time in daylight as well.

This conclusion about the importance and extra attractiveness of intersecting lines of transmission infrastructure .... is not driven just by this one report. The same pattern has occurred in many other areas, in other states.

For this vicinity, refer to the map image below. Powerlines and this railroad bed intersect at two locations that are 15 crow miles apart. There are credible reports from both intersection areas (within third of mile). In one intersection area a bigfoot was holding its ground, which is not common. It was apparently trying to intimidate a group of humans (landscaping crew) to leave from under a bridge, which they did. See Crawford County report 58900.

The Class A sighting that happened last Sunday near Fort Valley was within a half mile of the same railroad line referenced in the older reports.

Another element of this Rosetta Stone:

Power line routes seemingly provide route options for circumventing rural towns where the railroad lines run straight through the middle.

Both the powerline routes and this railroad line run among orchards and farm fields and thick woods that are chock full of wildlife, including a very visible abundance of deer.

Predicting locations that sasquatches will favor is largely a matter of understanding what attracts them and what repels them. Human traffic and lights and fences repel them.

What attracts them: Among other things, spacious, thick tree/brush cover providing safety, and abundant animal life, and clean running water. A precious jewel to add to that list is shelter.

A cave or overhang on a very steep, tree shrouded slope is their favorite kind of shelter, especially when it affords a strategic view over grazing fields frequented by deer herds.

In most flat terrain the only places they will be able to get out of rain or ice storms is under dense cedar trees or under a bridge. But a bridge is only a good option where there are no humans around underneath the bridge. It doesn't matter if it is a highway bridge with people driving over it every minute, if none of them go under the bridge. It also needs to be a place where you cannot even see what's under the bridge when you are standing on the bridge, because its a wooded creek bottom underneath, where the brush is so thick that a bigfoot cannot ever be surrounded by humans.

Bigfoots prefer resting places from which they can flee in various directions, and flee through thickets across which a human will not physically be able to follow them.

All of those ingredients are present under the bridge where the DOT crew was frightened away back in 2010, under Hwy 96 one mile east of the Flint River bridge. This bridge location is 15 crow miles from this Byron report, but just outside of Peach County in neighboring Crawford County. Here is the link to report 58900 from September of 2010.
