MONTH: December

DATE: 24

STATE: Ohio

COUNTY: Pike County

NEAREST TOWN: Jasper

NEAREST ROAD: St Rt 32

OBSERVED: Driving east on SR 32 in Pike County Ohio noticed a dark figure on the white center line of a four lane highway. It took approx. 4 steps and was off the shoulder, I initially thought it was a person crossing the road at an intersection I proceeded to the point where it crossed the road but no intersection. I mentioned it to my wife and although she did not see it we got to the point where it crossed and no person or animal in sight. There was a light dusting of snow at the time we did not stop to look for for prints as we were in a hurry being it was Christmas Eve.

OTHER WITNESSES: no

TIME AND CONDITIONS: Between 12.30 pm and 1o'clock

ENVIRONMENT: Lots of woods

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Bea Mills:

Spoke with the witness, found to be credible.

The following can be added to the report: Witness was traveling to Circleville, Ohio via SR. 32 (a 4 lane highway) with his wife. While driving, he reports seeing a "big, black figure", ''less than a 1/4 mile" away, along the dotted center line. He states the figure took 4 steps (estimated at 22ft. in distance) to cross the road & berm before going out of sight into a treeline that flanked the road. He recalls pointing the figure out to his wife, who didn't see it. Witness described figure as, "huge" and, locomotion as, "running with long arms swinging". States that it was too far away to notice any further details and did not stop vehicle. Witness did not recall seeing any other vehicles.

In the area:
Varied terrain with hills, farms and woods
Scioto River is to the east
Sunfish Creek is to the West
Lake White is to the North
Pike State Park is further to the West
