Report # 35177  (Class A)
Submitted on Wednesday, April 25, 2012.
Tall manlike creature seen while on a family outing near The Pas
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2007

SEASON: Spring

MONTH: May

PROVINCE: Manitoba

COUNTRY: Canada

LOCATION DETAILS: Near Clearwater Lake Prov. Park.
Specific location withheld to protect the witness.

NEAREST TOWN: The Pas

NEAREST ROAD: Hwy 10 and Clearwater Lake Hwy

OBSERVED: I am reporting on behalf of my son. He is a very truthful child. He has never been able to forget what he saw that day so we have decided to report to the organization about the encounter for the benefit of research.

My son was out in the forest, as he loves to do, near Clearwater Lake that spring day in 2007. Most of the time he does not become separated from family, but this time he did lose track of them, they were not to far off but missed the sighting. Also note, this is the time of year when you easily reach into the stream and grab fish right out of the water. Anyways, he stopped at the entrance of the trail that leads into a wooded area. He clearly saw a very tall manlike creature scraping on tree with both hands then pounding with one hand raised upward. The sound was loud. With a very human like action he paused, turned his head and body and looked at the boy. My son became shocked, cried and left the trail area having viewed the manlike creature within a couple of minutes. His description is that creature was almost approx... the height of our living room ceiling (8 ft.) as I asked him to use a comparison. When asked if male or female, he couldn't be sure but stated possibly male. He was dark, black, long and/or medium hair that appeared dirty, short hair on face but not covering the eyes or mouth areas, slightly peaked head but still rounded, I asked him to draw a shape and it looked like an upside down between a V and U. He also remembers the massive arms and hunched over appearance. Sometimes he is unwilling to talk about it.

ALSO NOTICED: no sounds other than the tree knocking, no one went back to the exact spot to look for evidence.

OTHER WITNESSES: none, the child's relatives were approx. 200 ft. away and did not see the creature.

OTHER STORIES: yes, there are many other credible reports from this general area including Big Eddy, Watchi Bay and Rocky Lake, but they have not all been reported. I will encourage them to send the details of their sightings to the BFRO. It amazes me that the manlike creature co-exists with people and have no or very few conflicts with humans, but this is the north and thousands of Km's are unexplored leaving the creature alot of area to call his own.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: early evening before dark perhaps cloudy but not raining

ENVIRONMENT: Heavy Boreal Forest with approx. 30% decidous and 70% coniferous tree's close to Clearwater Lake... is swampy in places, large lichens that hang from the trees, low juniper bushes, spawning fish are abundant in the spring, fresh clean water

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Blaine McMillan :

I interviewed the witness' mother by telephone and I found her to be very credible. She described to me the incident as related by her son. Some details of the incident have been omitted in order to protect the privacy of the witness.

Her son was out in the woods with several relatives. He often spends time in the forest much like any other child living in this northern Manitoba community and is familiar with the resident forest creatures. At some point, after being separated from his relatives he saw an animal that he was not familiar with. He watched as this animal first scraped away some of the outer bark of a lodge pole pine tree with the palms of its hands and then proceeded to pound on the trunk of the tree with a closed fist.

This incident was so traumatic that for several years this child had difficulty sleeping and would not venture out into the woods without the close physical proximity of an adult. These same conditions often occur in adults who have seen a sasquatch so there is no reason not to consider them as indicators when a child has seen a sasquatch.

As a method of trying to understand what had happened the witness' mother had her son re-enact the incident that had taken place years earlier. By doing so enough additional details fell into place that the witness was able to draw this picture of the creature that he had seen. The image has been edited to remove the name of the witness.

The witness was only 6 years old at the time, we are publishing this report because of the mother's support and because more reports are coming from this region.

After drawing this sketch, his mother says he has been able to sleep more soundly at night.
