Submitted by witness on Sunday, February 14, 2010.
Possible vocalizations heard in the Bradshaw Mountains (w/recordings)
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2010

SEASON: Winter

MONTH: February

DATE: 2/12/10

STATE: Arizona

COUNTY: Yavapai County

LOCATION DETAILS: Directions withheld at the request of the witness.

NEAREST TOWN: prescott

OBSERVED: look, i will say first that i really like this campsite and dont want a bunch of random freaks going up there to look for bigfoot or whatever. you guys are professional about this, it seems, so if you want to go there, no worries. but i'd prefer if you didnt give the exact location out.

long story short, i was camping up there over this past weekend. heard something really weird on friday night. really creepy too. ive heard all kinds of coyote calls and this was not coyotes, im certain. not a bird either. not an elk, deer, no kind of big cat. couldnt be wolf because there arent any wolves around here. didnt sound like a wolf anyway.

i dont dis-believe in bigfoot, not a cynic or anything. so if someone more informed than me listens to these recordings and tells me its a coyote then okay, great. but this was WEIRD. it was NOT a canine type sound. anyway, i was in the tent when i recorded the sounds, so there is static, but you can still hear pretty well. i will upload them to my computer tomorrow and send them to you guys if youre interested.

the main reasons im reporting this are that 1. it was really weird, 2. i searched prescott bigfoot on the internet and saw the report from the other couple you have on your site. i listened to that ohio howl, it doesnt sound like that. but anyway. im no expert, so if you guys are interested let me know.

ps. my writing is kinda all over because im super tired. but the first thing i did when i got home was to start researching this, thats how freaky the sounds were.

ALSO NOTICED: i recorded what i heard on a digital voice recorder. i use it to record notes/ideas etc. i didnt get the first calls, but it weirded me out so badly that i got it out of my car and got the next two times, almost.

OTHER WITNESSES: just me. i know this because going down the hill you can have see all the campsites. i had come down about 6 pm, noone was camped at any of them.

OTHER STORIES: i talked to a guy who was a prospector and had been in the area for almost a month. he said he had heard something about 2 weeks before, just after a big snowstorm that he hadnt ever heard before. the guy was a bird fan, been a hunter, was in the army in panama, seemed believable. said that it was really weird.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: 11 PM
there was no moon so it was super dark. clear skies. very little wind, almost none. the smoke from my campfire was going straight up for much of the evening.

ENVIRONMENT: pine forest, xxxxxx creek flowing pretty deep and heavy for this time of year. 6500+ elevation.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator TF Zamiski:

I spoke to this witness by phone. This witness has camped at this location about twenty times over the past three years mostly in the spring and fall. This trip was early winter. The following are links to the recordings:

First Sound
Second Sound

He has never heard anything like this. Thinking perhaps other campers were possibly making the vocalizations he drove around to search the area the next day and did not find any other camps.

The calls came from the southwest starting around 10:45 pm he estimated that they originated about one mile away. He heard three sets of calls lasting over a period of 35 minutes and seemed to move closer to his location each time. Retrieving his digital recorder from his vehicle he was able to record some of the calls. I have listened to them and there is alot of noise on the recordings but I was able to hear the sounds. I agree that with this witness that the calls were weird, as in not what I would expect to hear from any known animal in this area. After listening to recordings on the BFRO website he said that one of the calls was similar to the 2004 Mississippi Howl. I have listened to the sounds and agree with the similarity.

Another investigator and I visited this location two weeks after the incident. We found good water supply and deer sign from around the same time as the incident.
