Cyclist hears loud wood knocks in Chattahoochee National Forrest
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2005

SEASON: Summer

MONTH: August

DATE: 15

STATE: Georgia

COUNTY: Floyd County

LOCATION DETAILS: Take 156 out of Calhoun going west
take a right on Everett Springs Rd. Everett Springs turns West Union when you cross the County Line.

NEAREST TOWN: Calhoun

NEAREST ROAD: West Union rd

OBSERVED: About two years ago I was riding my bicycle with a friend of mine out in a rural area. Just out side of Calhoun, and just barely over the county line in to Walker County. I heard what sounded like heavy wood knocks. Big loud ones. At the time I just thought maybe someone was building something off in the woods. But now I’m more inclined to believe that it could have been a Sasquatch. Because there was nothing but woods, and fields in the section of the road where I heard the noises come from. I haven’t rode out there in a long while either so nothing further to report. My friend that I was riding with would have no recall of the incident. Like I said just sounded like building going on.

ALSO NOTICED: This is not my first report I have filled with BFRO. I filled one back in 05 about a rock throwing in West Virginia. The bicyclist in Tyler County.

OTHER WITNESSES: Yes but he wsn't paying attention

OTHER STORIES: Not in the same Area,

Also Back in 2002 just outside of Crested Butte Colorado. Some friends of mine and I were camping just off the forest service Just a few miles past a little three or four building area called Gothic. We were there to do some mountain biking. We had gone back in to Crested Butte to eat after we set up camp. Like I said we were camping on a clearing just of the side of the road. When we got back to camp we all just went to bed, after all we were there to bike and had driven from Colorado Springs most of the day to get there. At About 01:00am I heard this whistling noise. Coming from three directions. I’ll try to describe. Lets just say my head was laid in in the 12 o’clock position. The first whistle came from my 10 o’clock, then another one at my 12, and the third fired off from my 4 o’clock. Scared my to death. I woke my friend that was in the tent with me to see if she knew what could be making that noise. She just listened said she didn’t know and back to sleep she went. I didn’t dare stick my head out the tent. This went on for about 2 to 3 minutes. I had just laid my head back down when I could running, (and I mean I could hear it) through the woods. I could tell it was Bipedal . I thought what kind of bird can run that fast, That’s the only thing I could think of that would be out in the Colorado wilderness at 1am that was whistling an running on two legs.

Then in 2005 when I was watching a video on MTV from the Bestie Boys, is when I started looking up Bigfoot on the Internet. You see in this video there was a Sasquatch that had abducted the group, anyway I said Bigfoot lets Google him. Found your site and Oregon Bigfoot. On the Oregon site in the sound area I clicked on the Sierra Growl. When the clip gets to where the whistle part is. I like to _hit myself. That is what I heard. But if you take your mouse and use it where you can repeat just that whistle over and over well then you have heard exactly what I heard.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: day time, damp had rained the night before

ENVIRONMENT: Just County road. House and trailers ever so often. Area noise camr from wooded and the opened up into fields.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Morris Collins:

I spoke with the witness on 8 January 2005 by phone. He related that he was cycling with a second individual. They were on a stretch of road that was completely wooded for 300-400 yards with no homes in the immediate vicinity.

The sounds of wood hitting together was loud enough to cause an echo and to get the witness attention while riding.

The second individual either did not hear or did not pay attention to the sounds and the witness did not ask him if he heard anything.

This area is in the John's Mountain WMA and inside the Chattahoochee National Forrest. It is about 30 miles southeast of the Crockford-Pigeon WMA and Pigeon Mountain which has a long history of sightings and strange occurances.
