Report # 77532  (Class A)
Submitted by witness Joseph Seymour on Friday, August 9, 2024.
TWO DAY OLD TRAIL (!!!): Country road crossing sighting by motorist 8:30pm, 62 miles southwest of WASHINGTON DC

YEAR: 2024

SEASON: Summer

MONTH: August

DATE: 9

STATE: Virginia

COUNTY: Spotsylvania County

LOCATION DETAILS: Investigator (MM) Notes:

This occurred in the Post Oak area, which is 16 crow miles southwest of Fredericksburg, Virginia. The figure crossed West Catharpin Road roughly 30 yards west of the intersection with Old Travelers Road.

At the point where it crossed it was able to circumvent a wooden fence on the north side. The fence ends at that point. The road crosser apparently knew it could cross there and continue at full speed into the woods in the dark without needing to hop that fence obstruction (see image below).

The GPS for the crossing point is 38.220325, -77.769502

NEAREST TOWN: Fredericksburg

NEAREST ROAD: Catharpin road

OBSERVED: I was driving down a backroad through a wildlife management area and I saw what I believe to be a Bigfoot cross the road in front of me at about 8:30 in spotsylvania Virginia

OTHER WITNESSES: No

TIME AND CONDITIONS: 8:30 low light with light misty rain

ENVIRONMENT: Pine forest with a field and a few houses

I spoke with the witness, Joseph Seymour, at length. He did not write much in his initial report but he had a lot more to say by phone.

He is 21 years old, born and raised in the area. Both his father and grandfather were born and raised and hunted that general area. He is a lifelong hunter himself and knows the roads very well. He sounds intelligent and works in construction.

There were three adults and one baby in the car. The other two adults were his fiance' and his friend. They were driving east on West Catharpin. The other two adults were more or less facing eachother engaged in conversion when the very tall dark figure ran across the road roughly 40 yards in front of his vehicle. It was across the road in a few big steps with long arms swinging like a biped. It was definitely not a deer or bear and stood between 7 and 8 feet tall.

He said there would be no reason for a person to cross right there in near darkness when the person could cross at the intersection of roads 20 yards further along Catharpin.

It was a very tall dark creature proportioned more or less like a human form, but beyond the size range for a human. That is how he knew for sure it was not a human.

This trail is only two days old. It may be possible to find tracks. I would recommend first looking along the dirt easement paralleling Catharpin Road on the south side (See aerial image above).

If you find tracks please photograph then with a common scale object or ruler next to the tracks, and multiple tracks at a time from various angles.

Let us know via Facebook. You can subscribe to our Facebook Group for free if you can find the right one. There are a few fake Facebook groups using the BFRO's name and banners. You can find the right one by searching Facebook Groups for "BFRO 1995". Our group has nearly 74k members.

When we post notices of reports added to the BFRO database the witnesses will often be available to answer questions in the comment section, as will be in this case. His name is Joseph Seymour.

Hopefully there's an experienced tracker in the area who will take an interest.

The other area to look for tracks is along the power line route. That runs for many miles and there are many roads where it intersects that will allow you to find the game trails ol large animals following that route.
