Tell-tale sounds heard in Jay Cooke State Park

YEAR: 2022

SEASON: Fall

MONTH: October

DATE: 10/7/2022

STATE: Minnesota

COUNTY: Carlton County

LOCATION DETAILS: Interstate I-35 north to Carlton exit. East on 210, through Carlton, to Jay Cooke State Park.

NEAREST TOWN: Carlton

NEAREST ROAD: 210

OBSERVED: I’m camping up at Jay Cooke State Park in Carlton County Minnesota. At about 330 this morning I heard three, deep, loud, one toned type of noise and then I heard what sounded like a tree knock. The noises I heard were not coyotes or wolves and I don’t believe a human being could make that loud of a noise and in that tone.

ALSO NOTICED: Partial handprint on her car door in a spot that she would not have touched.

OTHER WITNESSES: I’m camping by myself.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: 3:30am so it was dark. Clear night.

ENVIRONMENT: Campground surrounded by birch, pine, oak. Park is full of woods, large rocks, trails, with the St. Louis River Gorge running through it.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Jim & Carol Telenko:

________________________________________________

This report did not come through the web site. A worker from Walmart saw my bigfoot necklace and told me about her sighting. It involves a sighting 40 miles to southwest of main report on this page.

The witness and a friend were headed north on I-35 just past Banning Junction, down the hill to the Kettle River bridge, when they noticed a huge dark figure standing at the edge of the woods, +- 50 yards from the river. It stood out very distinctively against the light green spring foilage (May 2022). The figure was approximately 7 1/2 feet tall, approximately 3 feet wide, covered with black or very dark brown hair, approximately 6 inches long. They were unable to state any facial features. As they passed, they looked back and observed the figure turn to its right and walk into the woods. Time was approximately 7:30 pm.

Two weeks after she gave me this first report, she stopped me in the store again. This was in July 2022. She was very excited because she and her friend had just had another sighting about 60 miles north of the first one -- this one in Jay Cooke State Park.

They were traveling east on Hwy 210, through Jay Cooke, approaching Oldenburg Point. It was approximately 8:00 pm, and they observed the top of a single tree swaying back and forth vigorously.

As they got closer they saw a 7 1/2 to 8 foot tall creature shaking the tree. She said the tree was approximately +- 8 inches in diameter. Due to the 25 mph speed limit, they were traveling slowly.

The figure was covered with black hair and massive build. Just as they got beside the creature they saw it turn and walk down the trail and disappear into the woods. To me, both sightings seemed real and I felt no deception was involved. The witness felt very honored to have had two sightings within 3 months.

Now, what is more interesting about her second sighting (Jay Cooke), is this report...#75007 posted here on this web site. This report (#75007) happened 1 1/2 months later and +- 1 mile away, also in Jay Cooke State Park. This witness was camping in the campground at Jay Cooke the weekend of October 3rd, 2022. She stated that being a single woman camping alone, she was a little fearful, which may have prompted her to have a nightmare that evening that someone was trying undo the zipper on her tent to gain access.

She stated that she woke up, screamed for them to leave but no one was there. She then checked her phone for the time...3:30 am. After a couple of minutes, still being wide awake, she heard 3 very deep, loud, guttural growls. Then approximately 30 seconds later, she heard a distinct wood knock. She knew what the knock was from talking to Don Sherman, and from doing wood knocks herself.

The volume of the growl was described as being louder than the train that goes by the park about 1 mile from the campground. The growls sounded like they came from down by the river gorge which is about 1/4 mile away.

When she woke up after a couple hours of tossing and turning, she inspected the campsite and noticed a partial hand print on her car door, in a spot that she would not touched.

I believe her report is honest and truthful. Considering other reports of sightings and vocals in the area, something seeom to be there. We will investigate the area further as we live approximately 20 miles away.
