Man recalls his sighting of a bigfoot near Lawrenceburg

YEAR: 1982

SEASON: Fall

MONTH: November

DATE: unkn

STATE: Kentucky

COUNTY: Franklin County

LOCATION DETAILS: from Farmdale subdivision nnw appx 1.5 to 2 miles across several farms you will come to some very dense old growth hard woods and many ceader trees of varying sizes. the location of the sighting was with in these woods.

NEAREST TOWN: Lawrenceburg KY

NEAREST ROAD: Schofield Lane

OBSERVED: In 1983 I was 14 years old and had the bright idea to make money by collecting mistle toe and with the help of my brother and 2 friends process and package the plants. First we had to find some so off we went to an area where we had never gone sense we moved to the area in 1979. When we arrived in the area in question it was around 330pm it was an average late november day in kentucky. Conditions were over cast, cold (40-50),and dry. As we made our way into and through the woods we found a logging road. the road was around 300 yrds in the woods and a dividing line between the two tree types. Once on the logging road we turned to the east and started up the road. After about 40-50 yrds or so we noticed several cows running about in the woods and a bull standing in the road just ahead. the bull kept looking to his right, our left at a large tree that was about 20 ft off the road. There were some smaller trees and cedar trees also from the road to the much larger tree that was about 4ft wide at the base. When we were in line with the tree we looked where the bull was still looking when we saw what was very clearly a very large bipedal creature with light brown hair from head to toe. I couldnt make out any facial features and the creature made no sounds even when I shouted bigfoot and the 4 of us ran directly to the south out of the woods which was around 300 yrds. We never went back there again and I have only told 1 other person about my encounter. I can honestly say that even with the training I had in the millitary and with law enforcement I would not go back there even if i were armed!

ALSO NOTICED: There were some cattle in the woods that were running around. that was what alerted us to the creature's presents.

OTHER WITNESSES: My younger brother and 2 other childhood friends.

OTHER STORIES: not till I found this sight.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: Late afternoon around 4pm, it was overcast but good light.

ENVIRONMENT: Old growth hard woods with a large ceader thicket on the south side of the woods closest to the area where the sighting took place. there was also a creek on the northern most side of the sighting area and a small pond on the estern side of the field as you enter the woods.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Don Adkins:

During a follow up phone conversation the witness added some additional details. He said the creature was at least eight feet tall. The hair was 3-4 inches long. He saw the creature as it leaned from behind the tree, from mid-shin up. He said the face resembled a orangutan, and although he was very frightened by the encounter, the creature did not seem menacing or aggressive in any way. The witness and the others that were there never spoke about the encounter, and he is not sure if the others saw anything. I encouraged him to speak to his brother to see if he has any memories of the event. His brother is currently on military assignment and not available. I hope to speak with him in the near future.
