OBSERVED: Hi,
I am from Pinawa, Mb. I flew in Adventure Air out of PINE FALLS.
I sat in the front seat with headphones on .

I fly at least 6 times per Summer in the same Beaver bush plane.

I am always watching for Moose, and Bear. I spotted this object, it was moving, it took a bit to realize it was not a Moose or a bear.

The object was totally upright, walked like a person, approached the road from the South and crossed the highway. It walked straight as an arrow, across the road, thru the low ditch and by this time I was looking back toward it, and saw it dissapear into the bush.

I was quite a distance, and could not see moving legs or arms. It was dark in color. I did not realize until it was into the middle of the highway, that this was something unusual. I did not tell the pilot til after, as we had passengers and would have had to go a ways out of his way to try and get a closer look.

I looked at the highway there were no vehicles parked or moving. This is a very isolated highway. I will probably talk to the pilot, he crosses this area often. May be able to get some GPS readings. In hindsight I wish I had shown the pilot, because I watched it for about 30 seconds.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: It was approx. 1 p.m. It was very clear, I was able to see the movement and follow it very easy.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Blaine McMillan :

I spoke to the witness by phone and he talked about the figure that he had seen while flying over Eastern Manitoba.

He said that he had often seen black bear, deer and moose while flying this on route ferrying fisherman to an outfitters camp. He described that what he had seen was unlike anything that he had seen before. He said that in relation to the surrounding brush the animal was close to six or seven feet in height and it was a dark brown in colour. The sighting last 30 seconds to one minute. In that time the animal in question covered about 100 yards while walking upright in a bipedal manner with its arms hanging down by its sides. It appeared to be in no hurry and appeared to take no notice of the aircraft.

The witness informed me that he looked up and down the roadway that creature had crossed looking for a parked vehicle. This may have incidated that what he had seen was indeed a person out hiking but from his vantage point of the cockpit of the aircraft he was unable to spot a vehicle of any description.

Although the number of reports coming out of Manitoba are considerably less than from BC or Alberta, it may be due to a great lack of human population. Two necessary ingredients for a sighting -- a bigfoot and a human. If there are never any humans around, there will be no sightings, no matter how many bigfoots live in the area.

The bush is extremely thick and the amount of available prey is plentiful enough to support a large predator.
