YEAR: 1998
SEASON: Winter
MONTH: January
STATE: Mississippi
COUNTY: Bolivar County
LOCATION DETAILS: The directions were in the southern part of Bolivar County, going north towards Shaw.
NEAREST TOWN: Shaw
NEAREST ROAD: Highway 61
OBSERVED: In 1998, January, I saw a large, light-colored, upright creature 10 miles south of my home in Bolivar County. I was driving north on highway 61 in southern Bolivar County when I saw about 200 yards ahead of me a large individual cross the road from left to right. When I reached the spot where it stopped in a ditch, it didn't look at me, but rather straight ahead. I would say it stood around 7 1/2-8 feet tall, and weighed about 450-500 pounds.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: The sighting occurred at around 1:15 A.M., on a cloudy night, with only the car lights illuminating it.
ENVIRONMENT: The area was a highway, in an isolated area.
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Tony Gerard:
I spoke with the witness by phone. The total duration of his sighting was about 15 seconds, from the time he saw the creature begin crossing the road until he passed it. He slowed the car but did not stop. The gait of the creature was described as ""smooth and fluid, swinging the arms like a human". The arms appeared to reach past the knees. The head was "cone shaped" and he could not see any distinct neck or ears. The body build was described as "muscular- not fat looking, just massive". The hair was described as "dirty white" and not particularly long.
At no time did he see any eye shine from the creature, he was not aware if the creature ever looked in the direction of his oncoming car.
When standing in the ditch, facing away from the road, the creature kept its arms at its sides. He did not notice any particular movement from the creature at this time.
