STATE: Oklahoma
COUNTY: Bryan County
LOCATION DETAILS: [Investigator MM notes:
The GPS for the powerline poles the sasquatch walked beside: 34.084885, -96.542455
NEAREST TOWN: Silo
NEAREST ROAD: Silo rd
OBSERVED: We came up on the Washita river at the end of Star Rd.(E.2020), in Silo oklahoma. He was across the river walking across a power line easement. He seen us come up over a hill so he stopped. I got out of the truck and when he stood up and went towards the woods I was shaking and knew what I was seeing. I hollered as loud as I could to get his attention. He stopped turned and looked for maybe a second and then disappeared into the woods. The whole experience lasted maybe 15 seconds. Without a doubt it was a bigfoot. He or she was at least 7 to 8 feet tall and could tell that still even being across the river and down the easement a ways. Had dark dark brown hair that had a red tint or glow in the sunlight that was going down behind him. It was around 5, 5:30 in the evening.
ALSO NOTICED: It was just a normal evening of driving out to the river and there he was.
OTHER WITNESSES: Three of us. We were driving up over a hill and he saw us. My husband 44, my step son 23, and myself 39.
OTHER STORIES: October 21, 2008 my husband was fishing the washita river by himself at about 2 in the morning and he swears he heard what he believes is a bigfoot in the woods that grunted very very vocally loud and it scared him so bad that when he got back to the the shore he almost left his boat and everything he had with him. He had to muster up the courage to get his things and he did so very fast and got out of there.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: It was evening, sun going down behind him up in the sky a ways still. Sky was clear and the wind was blowing a little.
ENVIRONMENT: There was 2 rivers flowing in front of us. In a power line easement. He was traveling from one woods across the easement into the woods across it.
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Matthew Moneymaker:
I spoke with two of the three witnesses. This report is legit. It's a "Triple-A" report because there were three Class A witnesses. All three saw a sasquatch along this powerline easement. See aerial image. The witnesses were standing near the powerline poles 1,530 feet east of the powerline poles where the sasquatch walked beside. Even at that distance the size of the figure was undeniably huge. The powerline poles are 3-4 feet is diameter so they provided a good gauge of width and height of something walking by them. The sasquatch was 8 foot tall or more. It had dark brown fur with slightly red highlights.
It is not unusual for a sasquatch to be spotted in daylight under powerlines in desolate rural areas where there are usually no people around, and more importantly, the area is usually so quiet that you can hear approaching vehicles from miles away. On this day it was very windy. The witnesses think that played a part in this incident. They think the wind provided sound cover, enabling the to drive to where they could see it across the river before it hear their vehicle sounds.
The sasquatch may have been following the powerline easement then took cover when it heard the lady yell at it. The direction it chose to do that was to the north, but doesn't mean it was headed that way -- in the direction of Tishomingo Refuge.
Five miles NW of this sighting location is the Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge (16,464 acres). The sighting location is also close to where the Washita River feeds into to Lake Texoma. There are scattered reports in the internal BFRO database about track finds along banks of Lake Texoma and howls heard from ranch properties west of Durant and Calera, going toward Lake Texoma. Texas bigfoot researchers know of other reports around Lake Texoma.
Why the three adults in this situation did not get photos or videos:
The sighting lasted only about 15 seconds. In these situations, where someone is not out looking for these creatures, the witness is typically dumbfounded by what they are seeing for at least that long. And like in this case, the witnesses are not going to take their eyes off it for even a second while it's still in view. There simply wasn't enough time to digest the situation and decide to get photos. It happened too quickly.
