LOCATION DETAILS: Truck was parked 100 yds or so past the gate inside the George Washington National Forrest on Runkles Gap Rd

NEAREST TOWN: Shenandoah

NEAREST ROAD: Cub Run Road

OBSERVED: Today around 11:30am I was walking my dogs in the George Washington National Forest. I parked my pickup at the base of the Massanutten Ridge and walked the dogs uphill, staying on the road the entire time.

Recently I have been watching Sasquatch research documentaries so I knew that wood knocking or rock clacking might garner a response. I had never tried anything of the sort not sure what I believe but like to wonder I guess. On our walk uphill I grabbed a couple of rocks and clacked them twice. Listen for a minute, nothing so we continued with our walk a couple miles up and back down.

Once we got back to the truck I immediately noticed that the truck door was open about a foot. Strange because I clearly remembered making sure it was shut and locked. It was my fathers truck. I didn’t realized the lock didn’t work. I shrugged it off and loaded the dogs up.

As I was about to get in a rock flew from the ridge on the opposite side of the road and landed in front of the truck. Just a pebble or something, couple of seconds later a larger rock flew from the same direction, hit some branches flew over the truck missing my had by maybe 6ft or so. Landed and bounced off the ground.

Scared now, I looked in the direction it came from and heard low distinct grunts or something. Was 2 of them. As far as I could tell, just sounded like 2 different individuals doing the grunting. Hard to explain.

On top of all this I dropped my keys somewhere. I unloaded the dogs and we walked to the park entrance. Once there I could still hear brush moving away from us. Called someone out and we went back to the truck and called a locksmith. We were there for 3 more hours was silent the whole time. I picked the rock up was about goofball size. Thrown from 50 yards or so above me. It landed like it came from some height.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Charles Kimbrough:

I contacted the witness by phone to hear his story first hand. The witness said that he is still shaken up a bit by the experience. He claims that he did do a couple of rock clacks upon arriving at the parking area, but then went on with his walk with his dogs.

Upon arriving back to his vehicle he had 2 possible subjects grunt at him from uphill of the parking area. This caught his attention and he looked up that direction. A few seconds later, a small rock came from that direction and up high in the tree limbs to drop down in front of his truck. Then a second rock, larger than the first came from the same direction and landed only a few feet from him. Again, it was lobbed up into the air, through the leaves of the trees on the uphill side of the road and landed near him on the opposite side of the road. He picked up that rock and kept it.

About two weeks after contacting the witness, I had him meet me at this location so that I could have a look around. I found that there are two hunt clubs properties less than a half mile before this parking area. There were hunters out back of both properties shooting their rifles in preparation for hunting season.

I have heard several stories of Bigfoots being active near shooting ranges. Possibly thinking that gun shots are a sign of an easy meal, due to deer being killed that way. But I also found that the location the grunts came from is heavily covered with vegetation. Just beyond that vegetation is a large outcrop of boulders. This would make it very easy for Bigfoots to enter and exit an area without making any noise. The witness said that having me visit with him has really helped him with the feeling he’s having due to this experience.
