YEAR: 1997
SEASON: Fall
STATE: Ohio
COUNTY: Columbiana County
LOCATION DETAILS: The area is in the back or southern part of the park by the Gretchen's Lock trail heading downstream.
NEAREST TOWN: Beaver Creek State Park
NEAREST ROAD: State Route 7
OBSERVED: I am a photographer who lives in northeast Ohio. A few years ago while I was out with my camera one afternoon I heard what I thought were Bigfoot howls or moans in Beaver Creek State Park. Some time later I heard them again in the very same place. The reason I have not reported this before is because I do not want to be laughed at or thought to be crazy. In April of 1999 while I was walking in the park again I started up a hill and was overcome with the sense of being watched. As I walked out of the park I had noticed there were no other people located in my vicinity. I also noticed the spider webs were still across the trail, so no one had been there before me that morning.
ALSO NOTICED: I have been in this part of the park for ten or more years and it is very quiet. No noise...
TIME AND CONDITIONS: Late afternoon.
ENVIRONMENT: Creek bottom, thick forest all around.
Follow-up investigation report:
The witness added the sounds that he heard on the two occasions sounded like the recordings that Matt Moneymaker had on the show called "Sightings." The sounds lasted between five and seven seconds on both instances. Wildlife on both occasions went dead quiet. Would have never thought anything about the sounds until hearing the same howl/scream on television.
