Submitted by witness on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.
YESTERDAY !! Fisherman sees large rock thrown at location of previous incident on Meramec River

YEAR: 2022

SEASON: Summer

MONTH: July

DATE: 5

STATE: Missouri

COUNTY: Crawford County

LOCATION DETAILS: Riverview Access boat ramp [on Meramec River]

[Investigator (MM) Note: His best guess as to where the rock was thrown from: 37.992107, -91.424985

NEAREST TOWN: Cuba MO

NEAREST ROAD: State rd O and hwy 19

OBSERVED: I was fishing at the Riverview Access conservation area near Cuba MO off of state rd O. I had been fishing for a couple hours. I was the only one there. The sun had gone down and it was starting to get dark. It was right around 8:30.

I witnessed a large rock come from the tree line on the opposite bank and land in the water. It made a big splash. The rock itself was quite large and flew through the air every bit of 20 feet from the point where I first saw it.

I am 6’3 350 lbs. a strong guy. But I could not throw a rock that large anywhere near that far.

I never saw whatever or whoever threw it. All I know is that something caused that rock to fly through the air. I instantly was confused and fascinated. I stood there for a minute thinking I would be able to see something move in the trees. I didn’t and thought it was a good idea to leave.

ALSO NOTICED: No

OTHER WITNESSES: I was alone

OTHER STORIES: After I left I googled “Crawford county mo bigfoot” and found this page with an incident seemingly at the same boat ramp.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: 8:30 right at/after sunset

ENVIRONMENT: Ozark stream and hilly terrain.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Matthew Moneymaker:

I spoke with the witness by phone. He lives in Arnold (outside St. Louis). He came down to this area to check on some land he owns. He stopped by this boat ramp to fish for the first time. He is participating in the "Smallmouth Slam" competition, where the state Department of Conservation honors those who have caught a smallmouth bass in each one of a long list of creeks and rivers throughout the state with smallmouth bass. This was one to check off his list.

He saw the rock clearly as it was still in the air falling down into the water. It was roughly the size of a bowling ball. There is no high bluff or behind where this happened. The rock did not roll off a cliff.

Its flight path was not sideways like a fast ball. It was thrown high up and went basically straight down to the water.

He was fishing from the boat ramp. The rock was seen to his right, roughly 50-75 feet to the right from the point directly across the river from the boat launch. It was not directly across the boat ramp.

The photo below the map images below shows a view of the river from that boat ramp, but looking to the left up the river, rather than to the right where the rock was thrown. The photo at least gives an idea of the terrain and foliage.

This incident occurred at the same location as Report # 50717 (Crawford County). That is a Class B report from 2010 with multiple witnesses hearing vocalizations and rocks being thrown into the water across the Meramec from the boat ramp and down to the right a bit, just like today's witness described.
