YEAR: Late 70s
SEASON: Winter
STATE: Ohio
COUNTY: Jefferson County
LOCATION DETAILS: Left side of Wilson Avenue behind a log home.
NEAREST TOWN: Mingo Junction
NEAREST ROAD: Wilson Ave.
OBSERVED: In the late 70s a friend of my fathers had a garage that was back in the woods a hundred yards or so from the road. One winter morning, he contacted my father to tell him that he found something strange around his garage. He proceeded to tell my father there were some very large footprints in the snow around his garage. My father, never one to believe in Bigfoot blew it off as a hoax or joke until he saw them with his own eyes. They were very large human-like footprints that came from a densely wooded area known as "Goulds Hollow." He said they came out of the woods, walked around the garage, and back into the woods in the same place it came out of.
OTHER STORIES: What I read on this site near Wintersville.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: Cold with snow cover.
ENVIRONMENT: "Goulds Hollow" is very densely wooded with many hollows and ravines that run for miles and miles of strip fields beyond that. These woods connect up with Fernwood State Forest.
Follow-up investigation report:
The witness added that the footprints easily dwarfed his size 12 boots. The tracks circled the garage and went back into the hollow. They looked like a human foot but much longer and wider. His estimate was 14 inches long and 7 inches wide. No stride measurement was taken.
