YEAR: 2001
SEASON: Summer
MONTH: July
DATE: 12-16
STATE: Ohio
COUNTY: Columbiana County
LOCATION DETAILS: Off of State Route 170 near Smith Road.
NEAREST TOWN: Fredericktown
NEAREST ROAD: State Route 170
OBSERVED: In July of 2001 I was driving up State Route 170 from Calcutta, Ohio. I passed through a small town called Fredericktown and continued north on State Route 170. About a mile or so up the road I noticed a very tall, hair covered creature walk across State Route 170 from east to west. I was less than 100 yards away when I initially saw it and by the time I got up to where it crossed all I could see was the backside of the creature cresting a hill out of sight. This was nothing that I have ever seen before. It walked in big strides unlike any animal known to me. To me, it was a Bigfoot.
OTHER STORIES: In the winter of 2001 my cousin and I were walking through this wildlife sanctuary that was about 500 yards from where my sighting took place. We distinctly heard a loud, sharp, piercing scream almost identical to the one that was played on a television show called Sightings.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: It was 10 AM and the weather was clear and sunny.
ENVIRONMENT: Very hilly terrain with medium density forest cover.
Follow-up investigation report:
The witness added that it was dark brown in color and moved very quickly across the road. What impressed him most was its sheer size. At 100 yards off it looked huge!
