OBSERVED: I was in my car going south on ___ towards ________ to run errands on a bright sunny Saturday morning. I came around the last curve of the road where it straightens out towards ________. I looked down at the temperature on my car and it said 86 and I saw a blue SUV coming towards me in the other lane. I thought nothing of the SUV until this tall creature stepped onto the road and in two steps had crossed the lane I was driving in and was into the left lane and my view of it was then obstructed. It was completely covered in thick hair, all the way to the pavement. I couldn't see any feet and it was about 1/8 mile away so I didn't see any facial features. The head did not bob up and down as it walked. It just went straight across the road. I have never seen anything move so quickly. I've seen lots of animals cross the road in that general vicinity because there are not many houses or much development, and I have NEVER seen that. I did not believe in Bigfoot and teased my husband because he believed. I will never doubt another sighting report. The hair of the chest was slightly orange in the bright sunshine. It moved so fast I was unable to see it's face but I saw the right arm swing back and the left arm swing back and then it stepped out of view. I kept driving towards it and the SUV and I thought I might flag that SUV down and ask if they saw it but when it got close to me, but decided not to. The hair kind of stood up above the head. I would say it had a sort of flat forehead and kind of a pointy head. The hair seemed to be standing above it's head but there wasn't any wind. I would be happy to show some BFRO person exactly where this happened and explain it to them if someone wants to contact me or come here for a visit.
ALSO NOTICED: I had an incident at my own house one night about 2 or 3 am. I woke up to hearing a low, loud snarling sound and then whatever it was, took a breath and started snarling again. My little bassett hound was outside and when the second snarl started, he started freaking out, barking, yelping, going nuts and so I jumped out of bed and ran to open the door to let him in. I thought it was a coyote, because we have coyotes here that have killed my neighbors cats and a few newborn calves have gone missing, completely missing, no sign of them at all. Anyway, the smell was horrendous when I opened the door. My dog was backed up to the door and when I opened it, he darted into the house and I closed the door. I went back to bed and tried to wake my husband to tell him about the smell. I didn't know coyotes smelled so bad. But now, after seeing this, I am certain there was a bigfoot beside my porch and he or she was about to get my bassett hound. I never let him outside during the night again, unless I went outside with him.
OTHER WITNESSES: no. I was in the car alone.
OTHER STORIES: My son works at the Coca Cola plant in Auburndale and a man who works there confided in him that he had seen a bigfoot on the side of the road on Deen Still Road, which is just about 2 1/2 miles north of where I live. He said it was further down the road towards Lakeland and it was late at night. He thought someone had thrown out a piece of old furniture and it was standing on end, like a fuzzy sofa or something but when he got close to it, he realized it was a bigfoot. He turned his truck around really fast but it was gone.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: About 10:30 in the morning on a Saturday. Sunny, clear, 86 degrees.
ENVIRONMENT: The area is not far from the Green Swamp in central Florida and there are not many houses. The ground is swampy and there are scattered trees but not a solid forest. It stepped onto the road from the west side of the road. It took two steps and on the third step it was on the east side of the road and was out of my view because there was a Ford SUV, one of the smaller ones, older model, in that lane. There is a stand of trees that it had to go into but there is grass on both sides of the road and ditches on either side. I did NOT stop to look for footprints. I was totally freaked out and once the SUV got closer to me, I could see that side of the road and there was nothing there to see but the trees and the grass.
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator R. Monteith:
The woman was driving southbound on Saturday morning, September 26, 2015. It was such a hot morning she remembered looking at the dashboard of her car to see the temperature at 86 degrees at 10:40 am.
Down the road she noticed a blue car heading toward her and then saw a bipedal creature step out from the opposite side of the road just as the blue car passed it. It was about 50 yards away. She has lived in the area for many years and has seen many different animals cross this road, but never anything that looked like this or moved as fast. She didn’t think the people in the blue car had noticed it.
She said it was not running but crossed in a very smooth fast clip. The right arm was swinging in front just as it stepped out and she noticed the left arm swing and the right again as it made 2 steps across the road. Right to left.
The creature didn’t seem to be more than 6 ft high, and it was very thin so thin, she explains that if it were a human she would say it was emaciated. It had mossy gray hair completely covering it body except the areas from mid chest to neck and the front forehead hair; those were reddish brown. The hair was matted and tangled. It was not shiny. The forehead seemed very high, higher in the front and the back of the head sloped down. She doesn’t think the high forehead was hair because she feels it would have been waving or moving as it crossed the road. There appeared to be no neck.
The area that it was crossing into has a clump of trees with wet land behind it. She believes it stayed in the trees as she passed it because she would have been able to see it come out the back. It didn’t. She admitted she could have stopped to look but she was very frightened and she was pretty sure it was in the trees.
Beyond the wetland area it is heavily forested. There isn’t another public road for about 8 miles.
From the side it was coming from are a few homes and a blue berry farm that grows other items in the fall.
Since her sighting she was told of two more sightings. One was a group of men pulling over to relieve themselves at night very near her sighting location. Something large screamed at the men very close to them and chased them away. The other is the road crossing that she speaks of in her report.
The people living in the area when asked report rocks thrown at windows, unknown screams, whistles and very bad odors that come and go.
We have an open investigation at the blue berry farm due to ongoing activity.
