Motorist spots a tall hairy biped chasing deer near Edinburg

YEAR: 2013

SEASON: Winter

MONTH: March

DATE: 4

STATE: Illinois

COUNTY: Christian County

LOCATION DETAILS: Witness requests no directions.

NEAREST TOWN: Edinburg

NEAREST ROAD: Illinois Rt 29

OBSERVED: I am writing this for my daughter. She was driving and came to a stop sign. This is a T road so she has to turn left or right. Straight in front of her is an open field with trees on the edge of it and a creek after the trees. After she stopped at the stop sign she noticed several deer running very fast. She then noticed a large creature running after them. She stated it was very, very tall on 2 legs and very, very hairy. The deer and the bigfoot ran into the trees. She was scared and was home in minutes. We live about 2 miles from where she saw bigfoot. She told Dad & I what happened. I explained to her what she had seen and told her that she was lucky to see it because not everybody gets to see them. Of course she didn't feel that way.

ALSO NOTICED: no

OTHER WITNESSES: one witness. She had stopped at a stop sign and was going to turn right to go home.

OTHER STORIES: yes. My sister told me a friend of her husband stated to him that a juvenile has been spotted several times in the last year by Clarksdale Illinois. A small town on route 48 between Taylorville and Morrisonville. This is about 16 miles from where my daughter saw hers.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: 11:05pm. clear, cold, a few stars

ENVIRONMENT: Open field, trees, creek and on the other side of the creek is a fence and more trees. The ground is also muddy.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Stan Courtney:

I spoke with the witness and her mother by phone. The location has heavy timber mixed with farmland. The morning after the sighting the mother and daughter returned to the location and looked for footprints. Because of recent rains the field was muddy and it was difficult for them to walk very far from the road.

In summary:

• The animal was over 7 feet tall.
• The witness was unable to estimate a weight other than it was very chunky.
• The hair was brown.
• The witness was unable to see any facial features as the animal never looked towards the vehicle.
• The lights of the vehicle were enough to light up the area of the field and to see the animals very clearly.
