YEAR: 2012
SEASON: Fall
MONTH: October
DATE: 4
STATE: Illinois
COUNTY: Sangamon County
LOCATION DETAILS: North side of the fields by the Frisbee golf course.
NEAREST TOWN: Springfield
NEAREST ROAD: University Drive
OBSERVED: I look for deer all the time when I drive anywhere. I was on my way home after school from LLCC. On the UIS soccer fields there was something at the edge of the field at the tree line. I glanced away and back and it was gone. It was a human shape but the shape from the head to the body was flowing with long hair all over. It was about 8 feet tall brown in color but was in the shade of the trees. Later that day is when the youth soccer league plays games there in the fields.
OTHER WITNESSES: It was just me there, but there was cars behind me dont know if they saw anything.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: 3:15-3:30 PM sunny and a little cool
ENVIRONMENT: Edge of the trees on the side of the grass field, which runs back to the creek bottoms and lake.
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Stan Courtney:
[Map showing the general area of the sighting just north of the large soccer fields - the red X marks the area where the animal was seen standing]
[Photo in the spring showing the heavy woods just north of the soccer and frisbee fields]
I met with the witness and discussed the sighting.
In summary -
The animal was 8 feet tall.
The animals build was massive and very muscular.
The hair was brown and very long. The witness was impressed with how the hair appeared to flow.
As the animal was standing still the witness was unable to describe any movements.
Because of the amount of hair the witness was unable to see any facial features.
The animal was approximately 150 feet from the witness.
With ten YMCA soccer fields the area does see very large amounts of children that come to play soccer. The fields are surrounded on 3 sides by heavy woods.
