MONTH: March
DATE: 31
STATE: Texas
COUNTY: Smith County
LOCATION DETAILS: Small community, private lake, heavily wooded, sparsely populated.
NEAREST TOWN: Chapel Hill/Tyler
NEAREST ROAD: Omitted per the witness' request
OBSERVED: On the night of March 30-actually the 31, since it was 2 AM, I heard a horrible call that I have only heard before on TV shows where the researchers play the cries of Bigfoot in the hopes of attracting one. It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Shortly after this long call, I heard another strange cry that was higher-pitched. I have NEVER heard this anywhere but on TV.
OTHER WITNESSES: My daughter lives 2 houses down & was awake &
heard it too, but not as close.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: 2 AM. Dark, no outside lights on.
ENVIRONMENT: see above
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Cliff G.:
I've spoke with Mrs DW on several occasions and her initial report was well reinforced by the telephone conversation. I questioned her about known animals in the area and quickly ruled those out. She's had at least three other (subsequent) vocalizations from the same area heard by other neighbors as well. She was frightened at the thought of it being a possible sasquatch, but has learned a great deal about the subject over the past few months. She has become quite comfortable with the idea now and is gaining knowledge at a rapid rate. She was encouraged to purchase an audio recorder if she'd like to possibly identify the source of the sounds.
The BFRO has received several reports from Smith County.
