SEASON: Summer
MONTH: August
DATE: 12
STATE: California
COUNTY: Tulare County
LOCATION DETAILS: Just south of Three Rivers, California, about 3 miles up the South Fork Road. This is in Tulare County.
OBSERVED: I thought a saw a bear in the middle of the road; then it stood up and ran on two feet and jumped a nearby barbed-wire fence and kept running into the woods until it was gone.
OTHER WITNESSES: Driving.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: August 12 about 8.30 a.m. while I was driving up the road.
ENVIRONMENT: Very woodsy -- mostly sycamore and live oak, about 100 ft. away from a ponderosa pine that grows near the road; near the south fork of the Kaweah River about 500 ft. before the silver bridge.
