COUNTY: Mahoning County
LOCATION DETAILS: Near the Intersection of Route 45 and Gladstone Road
NEAREST TOWN: North Jackson
NEAREST ROAD: State Route 45
OBSERVED: I had fed deer out on our property for about 2 years. One day my girlfriend and I were back along the gas well road that brings you about 2000 feet off the main road. I was checking to see if the deer had been eating the cracked corn I left them. Most of the corn had been eaten. I turned around to look back towards my truck and next to the gas well road was a large tree that was about 30 feet off the road. Next to the tree was a very tall, wide shouldered, very built, dark brown, hairy creature standing next to it. The creature had pushed a fairly large branch away from its face so that he could watch us. All I could do was stand there for a few seconds which seemed like hours staring back at the creature. My girlfriend finally asked what are you looking at which made me quit staring. All I could say was get in the truck.
ALSO NOTICED: none that i can recall
OTHER WITNESSES: no
OTHER STORIES: About 6 years earlier my Aunt had seen a large creature in Meander Reservoir about 3 miles from where I saw the creature. She had the same description as me and she told me it was down on one knee drinking water from a small inlet in the reservoir. She saw it from Mahoning Avenue West in Austintown Ohio.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: It was dusk. The sun was beginning to drop below the tree line. The skys were clear, it had just got done raining
ENVIRONMENT: Decidious Forest. lots of hard woods very little undergrowth
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Joanna Cuva:
I spoke to the witness, with his father nearby while referencing property details and I found them to be credible. The area is rural, a lot of new growth, not very dense with open fields.
