LOCATION DETAILS: Hwy 508, heading west from Morton toward Chehalis, past Butts Road but before Bear Canyon bridge.
NEAREST TOWN: Cinabar, Washington
NEAREST ROAD: Hwy 508 and past Butts Road heading west.
OBSERVED: While driving to work D observed a large light brown animal take two large steps in crossing the hwy 508 from the North to the South. D was on her way to work at around 6:30 AM and rounding a curve when she saw the large animal at the North side of the road as she completed the curve. "It never looked at me and moved really fast. I slowed down at the spot where it went into the trees hoping to get a better look at it, but it was gone"
ALSO NOTICED: "It had long gangly arms, and was one uniform color, light brown. I had gone past Butts Road and past the tree farm going around the corner, when I saw him."
OTHER WITNESSES: Alone in car on her way to work.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: Clear morning, the begining of a sunny day. About 6:30 AM
ENVIRONMENT: Winding canyon road, surrounded by reprod. forest and Christmas tree farms. Road rises to the North of the Tilton River flowing below.

Follow-up investigation report:
D is a secretary ward clerk in the medical field. I was able to obtain this sighting report through D's children who are students of mine. They were able to recite their mom's story as vividly as she did. Their mom's sighting had no doubt left an impression on them.
Another local incident:
Two different girls who attend Mossyrock found large 18" footprints in the woods near one of the girl's home in Cinabar at approximately the same time as D's sighting. (April of 1999)
