YEAR: 2005
SEASON: Spring
MONTH: April
DATE: 20th or 21st
STATE: Georgia
COUNTY: Murray County
LOCATION DETAILS: I have to dig out my old GA topo maps! They still have the lat long on them for the campsite. I just have to find them again! But will email them to you when I do find em!
NEAREST TOWN: Eton, Dalton Georgia
NEAREST ROAD: 411 an 76
OBSERVED: Three years ago I was up in the Cohutta Wilderness in N Georgia doing some hiking and fishing by myself. I set up camp at the remnants of an old logging camp, basically just a clearing. It was right next to a small river called the Conasauga river. As soon as I started setting up camp I started hearing what sounded like a big thick stick repeatedly getting wrapped against a tree. I don't remember how many times it was but I remember it going on for a minute or two.
I low crawled down to the river and peeked out from under some trees and looked upriver where the sound was coming from but did not see anything. The sound stopped and I went back and finished setting up camp.
After I set up I waded across the stream and went to where I thought the sound came from and found nothing but a bunch of beaver chewed trees. When I saw those chewed trees I attributed the noise to them. After that my entire trip there was quiet. I was by myself and was about 8 miles from anything resembling civilzation.
ALSO NOTICED: Not that I remember.
OTHER WITNESSES: No I was by myself.
OTHER STORIES: No
TIME AND CONDITIONS: I would say around nooninsh!
ENVIRONMENT: Heavily wooded with a mix of evergreen and leafy trees. It was an old logging camp. It was a clearing but the trees were starting to take it over again. Nothing is left of the camp but a few railroad rails and a small concrete foundation.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Morris Collins:
I spoke with the witness on two occasions via phone and email. He has sinced moved to Alaska but was able to locate his map so that accurate coordinates were obtained of his camping location. The coordinates are at the rivers edge, at the end of the "Tearbritches Trail".
He decided to file a report after coming across information on the Internet about bigfoots and wood knocking. He stated that although there were beaver sign in the area, the sound did not resemble a beaver slapping its tail on the water.
Subsequently, there has been a Class A sighting 12 miles WSW of this location in Whitfield county in August 2007 that is currently under investigation.
