OBSERVED: Hi, On September 1st 2005 I went out on opening day deer hunt in central BC. With me was my 17 year old son and his girlfriend. I have been hunting this area for 20 plus years, and know it like the back of my hand. There are for main areas I hunt. In this one area I noticed no sign of game, birds, ducks etc... We decided to have lunch there. I felt that my senses had me on look out. I tried to nap but could not. I felt as if something was watching us.

After lunch we went road hunting and returned to the same place to camp, however I stopped the truck about 100 yards from this dried out marsh and saw tracks that where, when walking, four feet apart and then the tracks veered to the left and started to run towards the nearest bush. I pulled the truck closer and got out. My son got out and was very scared. We all three smelt this terrible smell. Like burnt bone from a dentist it just stunk somthing awfull.

I ordered everyone back in the truck and we hightailed it back to town. Instead of staying in the bush we grabbed a motel. The next morning I grabbed a camera and went back to take pictures of the tracks. When we arrived the next day the game had returned to that area. There where birds, ducks and even deer. The smell was gone and my senses where back to normal. I took some amazing photos of tracks that I have in my possesion. Would you be interested in seeing these?

A rainstorm rolled in that night and made plastering impossible.

ALSO NOTICED: The tracks where not there at noon, it stunk in the evening and all game seem to have left the area.

OTHER STORIES: Yes, one of my older hunting buddies came clean and told me a story about 30 years earlier that while they where camped (8 miles from that area) that a sasquacth had in the middle of the night circled the camper and then the tracks disapeared in the swamp. He recalls waking and hearing a low grunt-sigh sort of sound, but at the time paid no attention to it.

I have spoke to the witness and I can add the following to this report.

The sighting area has numerous seasonal and permanent water sources. The topography reveals that there are plenty of valleys that run down from the plateau type hills. These hills generally peak out at 4,000 to 5,000 feet in elevation.
I was informed that normally there is plenty of game to hunt but on this particular day the witness and his party noted that there was none of the usual forest animals to be found.
The witness is an avid hunter and has had plenty of experience in the woods and has never seen any tracks like these until this incident.The witness also feels that whatever made the tracks must have been scared off by the approach of their vehicle. There was track sign to suggest this.




This photo shows the trackway leading towards the woodline and then suddenly turning 90 degrees to the left. The stride length was four feet and then extended after the turn to seven feet.
